Spire2000 Posted February 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2013 We will be in Cozumel on the Oasis in a couple of weeks. Before finding cruising, we used to stay in Playa Del Carmen for a week each winter and absolutely loved it. It's been about 5 years since we were last there and we though we would take the opportunity of being in Cozumel to pop back over for the day. We've been to Cozumel before, taking the ferry from PDC, but that was 7 years ago now. I understand the Oasis docks at a more remote pier than the one nearest the PDC ferry. Is this walkable? Or is taxi the best bet? It would be awesome if they ran a ferry from the large ship pier. How much is the ferry these days? Can anyone see any issues with my plan to spend the day in PDC? Thanks in advance
Rare crewsweeper Posted February 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2013 The Oasis docks at the International Pier. It's a $7 taxi ride to the ferry dock. You'll need to be cognizant of the times for the ferry's returns. (suggest not buying a round trip ticket to give you about 5 minutes flexibility on returns between the 2 ferries). And you should try to get back to the ferry dock at least 15 minutes prior to departure. Even if the ferry is at the dock and hasn't departed, they may not sell you at tiocket if its within 5 minutes of scheduled departure and certainly won't sell one if its past departure time. And make sure you're looking at the correct times. Ferry Schedules are in Coz time. Not sure if the Oasis stays on US Eastern or changes to port time. http://www.cozumel-tours.com/cozumel-ferry-schedule.htm Just be aware that things, shops and restaurants have changed in the last 5 years in PdC, but you should still be able to walk around, eat and shop. There are a number of recent reviews on PdC on other sites, check them out.
