Smoking on Adventure of the Seas - TA

Smoking

Agree with what others have said about being disappointed that RCI seem to be allowing smoking on this TA in April.

Don't have a problem with people smoking up on deck, but to allow it in the promenade area especially in the the pub is wrong. Smoke also drifts upstairs from the casino directly below the promenade.

1. It is a health hazard to all

2. You return to your stateroom with your clothes stinking of cigarette smoke.

Was on the Voyager of the Seas in Australia and New Zealand in November. On there there was a strict no smoking policy throughout the ship apart from certain areas on the open deck.

The obvious question is why is it allowed on Adventure and not on Voyager.

Smoking was allowed on Voyager Promenade when it was based in the US. The sports bar served as the Promenade smoking lounge.

My understanding is that they change the smoking policy to match local the policy in force at the port at which they are based. So for Australia and New Zealand, there are little or no indoor smoking areas. This is also true of Independence when it sails from the UK. More restrictive indoor smoking rules in the UK. When Indy was in Florida last December, there was smoking in the Pub again.

In the casino it is evident yes, in the disco, yes, in the Schooner Bar adjacent to the casino, no.

Just my observations. There are many more no smoking venues far better than the 'British pub' IMHO and casino to enjoy a beverage, so you don't have to visit there. And thus won't experience smoke.

Hmmm. I was on Indy two weeks ago and there was absolutely no smoking in the pub. I was there on most nights. Definitely smoke-free, as I wish all the pubs were. When Voyager was sailing out of Galveston for winter season, the pub was non-smoking. Unfortunately, Mariner's pub is the smoke lounge. The smoke absolutely billows out of there. I do so wish all promenade bars would be non-smoking on all ships. Fewer than 25% of US citizens smoke, yet ships out of US ports seem to cater to smokers.

No smoking on ID in the pub on the new years cruise, in fact, the only barm indoor or outdoor, to allow smoking was the casino bar, and then not on formal nights
