Triumph passengers speak up!

I would hope Carnival would give the crew a big bonus, they made Carnival look good with all the praise that they were given. Just think, what it would be like if the people had come off and talked about how bad the crew was!

I did have to laugh a few times, must not any of the people interviewed have been in the military. Ask our troops about pooping in a bag, they don't get a bag. Then, try to eat MRE's for weeks.

:)Did like what guy said "a three day cruise and a four day camping trip".:)

I have been on one ship that had one stopped up toliet, it did stink up the passageway, it must have been really bad with that many bad ones, they will never get the stink out.

Everyone needs more than $500.

Let me see, many ships who have gone to Aziopods have had major problems. The captain of Triumph as said while they increase manueverabilty they have had major problems, so Carnival doesn't order ships with them anymore (since a few years ago).

So, Zeddy377, you are an engine designer/engineer? Share your wisdom and experience with us. Please.

Azipods will have major issues if not properly maintained. Maintance costs on an Azipods is around 3x a normal system and apparently carnival doesn't take proper care. The spirit had a complete failure of one pod. They never stopped, after 3 months it went into Drydock and was replaced and had a complete overhaul on the 2nd unit. The triumph has failure of all pods on a regular basis. They can give them a temp fix but never do it right. My mom and sister did a cruise in 2010 and these failures delayed there arrival in cozumel till 3pm.

The Triumph sails out or New Orleans and has been fine. It was a fluke. Go get a job and stop whining. Lol

Wrong. Sails from Galveston and the 2 sailings before the most recent one had widely-published issues with propulsion. Late arrival/missed port. I sailed on Triumph over New Years and we had a great cruise. No issues.

I agree. The crew on Triumph was top rate. They went out of their way to please the people. Two of the waiters (Lyn and Geraldo) were fantastic and had great memories.

"OOOOOOOOOOOO that smell!"

The Carnival Triumph doesn't use Azipods. That class of ship has the traditional shaft/propeller setup. In the Carnival fleet, only the Spirit Class, and the last two Fantasy Class ships (Elation and Paradise) use Azipods.

I don't know what carnival ships use the pods. Was just stating that how the person said pods break alot. And when I said the spirit I forgot to put ncl spirit. I know of its problems from actually taking a cruise on it while the pod was out of service and they explained it to everyone as why the boat was doing 19knots instead of 21.

Just so we're clear...

The Carnival Triumph doesn't have Azipods. The Triumph uses regular controllable-pitch propellers.

You've got Azipods on Elation, Paradise, Spirit, Pride, Legend, and Miracle.

Thought Splendor also had the Azipods?

Once again someone who knows zip and gets the facts wrong becomes an expert and tell us to get jobs and stop whining. Perhaps you need to do the same and learn a few things before you continue posting. Wow, just wow!!!!!!

No need to be rude.

Both your statements are incorrect.

The Triumph sails out of Galveston and has had numerous propulsion issues reported on cruise critic since December.

Triumph does have Azipods! I sailed on her for her inaugural cruise because of a failed bearing in one of her Azipod units. Her first 6 cruises out of NY in 1999 were canceled because she had to go back into dry dock for repairs. I received a nice commemorative book all about the building of the Triumph. I find this all very interesting. On that first cruise the plumbing leaked sewage over the bar by the casino and the air conditioning did not work in the midship cabins of the upper deck. I sailed on her 2 times and I would sail on her again. I would love to see her updated like the Destiny/Sunshine!

Sorry to steal everyone's thunder about the Azipod question but yes she does have Azipods. It is a fact!

Don't know about 1999, but she doesn't have azipods now.

Interview with Captain of Triumph from around 2009 where he states that she has variable pitch propellers, not azipods.

http://www.beyondships.com/CarnivalTriumph-art-captain.html

The wikipedia entry also refers to variable pitch props and not azipods.

Even for a perfectly "ordinary" cruise (as compared with the one Triumph just had), there will be thousand of passengers and each may have a very differenct view (or perception).

So why do one "expect" Triumph passengers to have exactly the same feelings as his/hers who could sit and watch the event from distance comfortably?

To me, it's understandable that some may treat it as an unusual experience and continue to cruise with Carnival, some may decide enough is enough with Carnival/cruising and some may even want to sue Carnival.
