Constellation On-Board Entertainment During Overnight in St. Petersburg, Russia

Our Baltic cruise on the Constellation is 6/1/13 and we are trying to decide if we should do an evening excursion the night we are docked in St. Petersburg. Has anyone been on this particular cruise, and if so, did the ship's entertainment include a Russian ballet or a traditional Russian folk show?

We did an overnight in St Petersburg on the Constellation in 2009. Looking at the old newsletters, that evening there was just a regular show at 9 and 10:45 pm. Nothing remotely Russian as it was a comedy juggler from the US!

They did have a Russian themed dinner buffet, however.

We did the Constellation Baltic Cruise August of 2012 and were treated with the Russian folk show onboard. It was great fun and fine for us after a long day sightseeing and were happy to close the day with this show and a bit of local culture.

Glad to hear that they have added this in the last few years.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the folk show. That's good to know and will definitely help us in making our decision.

I think deciding to go out on an evening excursion may depend on what you are doing duriing the day. We did this cruise a couple of years ago, did a two day tour with a private company and were totally exhausted by the end of day one. Could not even think about dinner in the main dining room that night and just opted for pasta at the cafe. Others who had booked the evening excursion reported that they too were exhausted. If you are doing a shorter excursion with Celebrity, then you could consider the evening as well

Enjoy. This was truly a cruise of a lifetime!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. We have a very intensive two-day tour schedule while in SPB so that's why we are considering staying on the ship.

Funny you should mention this because the Russian Folk Show was one of the best entertainment acts we have experienced in any ship's theatre. In fact, my DH still remarks about it on most cruises we've been on since :). Definitely, well worth watching.

We did this too with Alla but we missed the russian folklore show onboard

since we were very tired, I can recommend you take a stong coffee or something else pushing you and don`t miss the show. Enjoy.

We did this cruise last year, it was absolutely brilliant.

We also did a private tour with Alla. Please remember by the time you arrive in Russia you will have lost three hours. We had to meet our guide at 7am ( or as close as possible ) and by the time we got back on board we only had the strength to eat a very early dinner,we were first into Blu and fall gratefully into bed eagerly anticipating the next day. This was at about 8pm.

We did hear the Russian folk dancers were superb but they didn't start the show until 9.45 pm.

Have a lovely time.
