CruiserPT Posted February 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Crowne Plaza Venice East-Quarto d'Altino offers an option of transport to the cruise pier from the hotel, it is about 50 euros for 2 people. Is this worth the extra $65 +/- or can it be done for much less on my own? TIA!
cherylandtk Posted February 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2013 That's essentially an airport to cruise port trip which can be done in a taxi for about 22 € with tip.
mapleleaves Posted February 21, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2013 Actually that's a GOOD price given the location of your hotel. Did you see where it is in location to the airport and Venice? http://www.crowneplaza.com/hotels/gb/en/quarto-daltino/vceqa/hoteldetail/directions A taxi from the airport to the pier is around 40-45E. Your hotel is about 7 miles NORTH of the airport and Venice is about 12 miles SOUTH of the airport. So 50E is fair. If you can easily manage your luggage a cheaper option would be the train ... the hotel web site indicates that it's a short walk to the station. But when you arrive in Venice at Santa Lucia station you would have to cross a large bridge, then catch the people mover to the pier so a few blocks of walking. A much cheaper option tho, less than 5E pp. Did you choose the hotel because it's a good price? Perhaps you could look at hotels in Mestre ... there are a few that are just across the street from Mestre train station.
