Galveston as a Port of Call

We are going on our second cruise, so we are definitely still newbies.

On our first cruise, we noticed people walking off the ship at Galveston (but didn't connect the dots that the location is where you disembark at a port of call). We forgot a few things and ended up paying an arm and a leg in the gift shop.

I am wondering if this means that we can disembark after boarding?

One, I would like to be able to hit The Strand if we realize we forgot something, and two, I kinda want to get a drink at a reasonable price before being forced to buy Carnival's overpriced drinks (just need to find another awesome server!).

Thanks, y'all!

Awesome! The $40 flip flops we bought for dh just stings. Still....two years later.

Now, for the $20,000 question....I know there are some great dive bars near the Strand, but given that I was drinking at them, can't remember them. Can you give any recs, in case we decide to go shoot back a few before the muster drill?

That is the same at every port when you leave the ship.

Hi Mary

Ive done this in other ports not Galveston.

They will let you leave the ship and give you an 'in transit' card.

That should help bypassing some of the other Pax, that havnt checked in yet, when you want to reboard.

Is that what they do in Galveston

Hi Jon:

We had boarded the Voyager when I realized I left our formal wear in the dining room. Called our pet sitter to come pick me up. Left the ship with just my seacard, picked up clothes, was driven back to the pier, went through security and back on the ship.

Didn't need anything else but my seacard.

Mary
