1st time cruiser2013 Posted March 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2013 I'm interested in buying a piece of jewelry while in port but would like an opinion or opinions on where would be the best store to buy from. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
blue_water Posted March 4, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Cardow's is one of my wife's favorites.
1st time cruiser2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Thank you! Where would this jeweller be located in St Thomas?
blue_water Posted March 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Their main store is located on Main Street in Charlotte Amalie nearer the west end. Thsy also have a store in the Havensight Mall at the WICO dock, building 1 I believe.
sail7seas Posted March 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2013 The selection of gold and gemstone jewelry in St. Thomas is but a mere fraction of what it used to be. Stores that used to have jam packed, full cases now sell t-shirts on the side. People have stopped buying much due to high gold/gemstone prices so the stores have lowered their inventory. It's a shame as we used to love admiring the beautiful designs, settings, gems...... AH Riise has always had a reputation as reputable. They have some 'satelite' locations but the large store is Main Street, Charlotte Amalie.
Ship's Wake Posted March 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2013 Another vote for Cardow. Bought my wife's engagement ring there.
blue_water Posted March 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted March 5, 2013 One of our favorite jewelry stores is in Cruz Bay on St John, gorgeous Hook bracelets. Quality craftmanship and beautiful artwork and a much nicer area to shop than CA. If you happen to be there for a day or longer it's St John Bracelet. blue_water Posted March 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 5, 2013 Another vote for Cardow. Bought my wife's engagement ring there. Cardow is the same as when we started going there 15 years ago and I know we'll be stopping there at least once when we stay on STT - that's a given. Great people and they're actually helpful rather than pushy.
1st time cruiser2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted March 5, 2013 Can you buy these bracelets anywheres else besides St. John? Thanks everyone for all your help!:)
blue_water Posted March 5, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 5, 2013 Yes you can, although we were disappointed with the selection and quality on St Thomas.but we did see better choices last January while staying at Sapphire, a store in Red Hook has a selection and there may be more in Charlotte Amalie, not sure. I mentioned St John Bracelet because of the quality of workmanship. The peening is superior to others and he can custom make one for you while you enjoy the island. Just watch for lesser quality in the cheaper stores.
cruisinro Posted March 5, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 5, 2013 We have been to St. Thomas many times and have been going to the same Jeweler for about 15 years. The store is Lucky Jewelers and it is right on Main St. not far from the post office.

Corinne Marie Posted March 11, 2013 #13 Share Posted March 11, 2013 We have been going to St. Thomas on a yearly cruise and always stop at Ballerina...On the main street In Charlotte Amalie....Great pieces and prices. They do not give a kick back to the ships so just be careful to stay away from shops the cruise line recommends as they will profit and you will pay for it....Have fun!!! AceMonkey Posted March 12, 2013 #14 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I have bought several pieces from Crown Jewelers and have been quite happy. Low prices and good quality items. They are also not high pressure. I plan on checking them out again during my next visit in October.
xteacher Posted March 12, 2013 #15 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I would recommend Royal Jewelers and ask for Lourdes. She is wonderful I purchased a blue diamond brachlet and the next time the earring.
