What time of year did you get your upgrade?

Just curious what time of year you have the best chance for an upgrade?:)

I booked in Dec. 04 for a Jan.05 cruise, booked an oceanview guarantee and got a balcony on the upper deck.

We booked the first weekend of December for mid July for the Elation (7-17-05). We booked two ocean view rooms for two sets of parents, and an inside cabin for the boys. A week ago we were upgraded to two penthouse suites (category 12) and an ocean view down the hall for the boys. :D

Upgrades happen when a ship does not sell out. Summer time sailing sell very well but people still do get upgrades.

 

I have sailed in Aug/Sept/Oct. in guarantees and never was upgraded. I also buy my cruises a year in advance at a cheaper rate/ People who have paid more will be upgraded before people who have paid a cheaper price.

 

If yopu book a cabin that someone else wants to keep a group together-- you can be upgraded also.

good question-- and I have no idea. The cruiselines charge one thing-- the agent may discount and take the loss. THe cruise lines know what they charge- I do know that my cruises have all sailed at 250 or more pp then what we paid... except the Victory-
