Do I remnember B. Altman's (and Arnold Constable, Bonwits and Best & Co. up the Street - at least L&T is still there and still has the lunch with Scotch Broth)!!!

 

Am sick over Trimminghamn's, expecially as it is closing before I visit this year. At least I still have that Pumkin shopping bag.

 

I used to get my hair cut at Best & Co. when I was a kid. Which store is there now?

 

I also remember going to swim in a man-made lake which used to be next to Bloomingdales.

I can't resist this thread, waxing over shops long gone. I sitll have childhood memories in a Peck & Peck hat box. And I bought my prom dress at Best & Company.

I only remmber that it was in the 50's on the East Side of 5th. I thought it was next to Tiffanys and when Donald Trump purchased the property became Trump Tower (either that or Bonwit Tellar became TT), but will have to ask my Dad who remembers everything about the way Manhattan used to be.
