Speakers and entertainment

Several years ago I cruised in South America with Holland, about 18 days, part of a longer cruise. We went from Rio de Janeiro to Santiago. This was a wonderful trip which I highly recommend. A speaker on this cruise was fascinating, speaking of the history and the geography of the region and of the ports. He spoke many times during the trip and certainly added to my enjoyment. The entertainment included indivuals and groups from the area also - dancers, an opera singer, others unusual in my experience of cruise entertainment. Does this still occur on longer cruises? I am considering a cruise this Fall from Rome to Tampa, also a potion of a longer cruise. Could I expect this type of education/entertainment?

On a longer cruise, especially a trans-At, you can expect several lecture series. Those are still excellent.

I haven't seen local entertainers come aboard in a long time. As a matter or fact, I'd forgotten all about that until you asked. There will undoubtedly be shore excursions which include local performers. That I have seen.
