Jules 1970 Posted March 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2013 Going to Norway this May and stopping at Honningsvag. Would love to do this excursion on my own and not with the Cruise Ship. Has any members done this ? Do you have to pre-book ? Recommended Companies ? How long does the trip last ? Anyone posted about this before send me a link, thanks

Has any members done this ? Do you have to pre-book ? Recommended Companies ? How long does the trip last ? Anyone posted about this before send me a link, thanks I think most of the posts here have been for ships tours for King Crab. However if you google "Honinngvag king crab" you will get a couple of tour operators with trips of different lengths, so compare carefully. One is 1.5 hours, another 3.5 hours. Our ships tour includes a crab meal. So it looks like there is no single answer to your questions. Although, if you do a search of this folder for the word crab, you'll get some ships tour reviews. I-Cruiser Posted March 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2013 Here is a link to a company that arranges King Crab tours. http://www.destinasjon-71nord.no/page.jsp?pid=kingcrab There is also another company called North Cape Camping that seems to offer a King Crab Safari. Their email address is: post@nordkappcamping.no Good Luck:)

Jules 1970 Posted June 16, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted June 16, 2013 Did this one while in Honningsvag , if you love Crab meat this is the tour for you. The ship offered a 1 hour RIB {Rubber inflatable Boat). But I pre-booked this Independently with "Destinasjon 71 Nord" This tour lasts for just over 3 hrs and you get to eat the Crabs which have been caught on the day. Weather was Ok, Hot and Sunny in the morning overcast with a few spots of rain by mid afternoon. The actual boat trip was very smooth, it felt like you were just skating over the water. The return was a little bit more bumpier as the sea got choppy due to the Weather. Waterproof suits are provided by the Company, but a woollen hat wouldn't go amiss.
