The Conquest and Rhapsody have the same itenerary (Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay) and the Rhapsody is cheaper by a bit. I'm not sure if "the Royal Carribean" experience is worth going on an older ship (built 1997, refurbed Nov. 2004) versus the new Conquest.

Hey,

Just a word from a fellow cruiser who's been on both the Rhapsody and Ecstasy out of Galveston. (Rhapsody Oct. 2004 before refurbishing and just got home yesterday from Ecstasy)

The best comparison I've heard of the two ships may seem a bit trite but I heard it said that Rhapsody is Disney World while Ecstasy is more like a Six Flage. Both are a lot of fun just one is a bit more pulled together. Rhapsody was beautiful even before refurbishing last Fall. The meals were outstanding and we noticed very little motion from the sea. The crew was diligent in their efforts to serve our every need and genuinely seemed to enjoy being on board. There were scheduled activities and shows and of course the pool and bars. Oh, and how can I forget the casino? Only thing is everything seemed to close down early and even the lounges that were open late did not have anyone dancing and enjoying the entertainment.

On the other hand, the Ecstasy which is billed as a "fun ship" has a non-stop party atmosphere. Any time of day or night (really until around 3:00am) there is music and a party. Food is good and there is a 24-hour pizza and ice cream parlor. Far more younger cruisers with families on this ship. We had over 900 kids on board (out of just over 2000 passengers) but Carnival did a pretty good job of keeping them occupied. The ship had a lot of motion and many guests got sick - Bonine and seasickness bands are readily available for purchase in all of the gift shops on board.

So, my advice is - if you are looking for relaxing, elegant and entertaining go for the Rhapsody. If you want to party all night with more of a Vegas style atmosphere go Ecstasy. Both were fabulous vacations and I'm ready to do either one again in a heartbeat.

Congratulations on your marriage and don't forget to participate in the Newlywed Game that's a big draw on both ships! Have fun!

Hi there! I just wanted to tell you that my husband and I got married July 24, 2004 on a Saturday in Orlando, FL. The reception was until about 11pm, and we flew out of Orlando around 7am the next day, all the way to San Diego (with a 45-minute layover in Houston) for our 7-night Mexican Riviera cruise. I suppose it was helpful that we got an extra three hours due to the time change, but I just wanted to let you know that it's doable. We were extremely exhausted, but we made it and everything went incredibly smoothly. We were actually on the ship early!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding and good luck with planning your honeymoon! A cruise is an awesome way to spend your first week together as a married couple. My husband and I had a blast!
