Parking at cruise pier in Honolulu

Hello. Our cruise ship is docked overnight in Honolulu first two nights of cruise. We are staying on Oahu for 5 days ahead with rental car. Is there any place at pier to park the car overnight? We might keep it for the two days we are on the ship in Honolulu, if there is a place to park it. Thanks!

There is hourly parking available at Aloha Tower complex, directly in front of terminal and in adjacent lot further away by pier 5/6.

Parking is also available overnight in business district across street and several garages. But rates are all a little different, with NO in and out allowed. You can drive in early morning (before 7 AM) and pay as little as 10 all day. But once you leave, you come back and enter again and pay full hourly rate as you would expect in any downtown or city parking garage. OR conversely you enter after 5 or 6 in evening and pay a flat rate for the night.

It can be done, but think about your plans in advance and when you enter and leave buildings. NOTE!! Some garages are owned by city and charge lower rates than 'private' garages. Use google map to see which is which.

Finally, in ALL lots, know that frequently, posted rates are for "validated" use of offices or retailers, like Aloha Tower. If you do NOT get a validation, beware a very expensive charge.

Why not use car in your days before boarding ship? Then you could return the car prior to boarding and just use http://www.TheBus.org Honolulu and Oahu have one of the best systems of buses in the country. You could do Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Iolani Palace all without having a car. Parking is free at PH, but in other areas, parking is expensive and hard to find.
