Refresh my memory please on transportation to and from San Juan Port

OK, so it's been awhile since I've been on a cruise leaving out of San Juan (2007) so I don't remember this. Doesn't Carnival provide coach buses to transport cruise passengers to and from the airport and is it free? I can't remember if I paid for this or not. I'll also have my daughter with me who will be 23 months in August, just a week shy of her 2nd birthday. Will I have to pay for her too if there's a fee? Thanks in advance for any help with this! :)

Nothing is free with CCL!! I would hop a taxi both ways - especially with a little one in tow. Very easy, and cheaper than CCL transfers. With transfers you have to wait till they fill a bus. With a taxi you are right on your way.

For the cruise line transportation, there can be quite a wait to fill the buses. I would just grab a taxi, especially with a baby.

Airport is a 15-20 ins drive from the pier. Just one traffic light stop, The rest is mostly a freeway ride. Cabbies dont drive like maniacs down here. You and your child should be safe.

Maybe not,,,but my last rip to San Juan I saw some goofy driving by damn near everyone!!:D

Thanks for the replies! And now that some of you mentioned it I do believe my family and I used transportation arranged by Carnival back in 2007 and we did have to wait quite awhile before we left the airport. How much are the taxis to and from the port?

There are set fees. When you land and get a taxi they will give you a listing of the fees. It is either $17 or $19 plus a dolllar a bag.

Hmm, if that's the case I might as well book transportation through Carnival. It's only $12 both ways I believe. Thanks!

The Carnival transfer is $15 per person each way. The cab price is not per person, so the Carnival transfer is only cheaper if you are traveling alone, and even then for only a few dollars more the cab is still a better option as it will be much faster not having to wait on the bus to fill up before departing.
