I would like to know Celebrity's xbox game lists. I think most of the games won't require continuous playing. It's more likely that the game will be sport games including golf, tennis, soccer, NBA, or music/dance games like Guitar Hero, Rockband, Just Dance. It is unlikely that they will put hardcore games like Final Fantasy, GTA, Gears of war, etc.

Another thing, why should you worry about hardcore gamers? All they'll do is sit and play video games all day. If you don't like them, just don't go near video games room.

My husband is in late 30's. He likes to play video games. We have xbox360, Playstation 2&3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo dsl&3ds, and PS Vita at home. However, I asked if he would like to play xbox on cruise, he told me No, if he would like to play video games all day, he'd rather stay home.

Why not? The more activities the better, especially if they utilize some space that would otherwise be empty. We have a Wii at home and play games on it. On a rainy day I might be tempted.

I totally agree. More is better.

If it's something you don't want to use/participate in don't.

Seriously. Is that the future clientele that X wants to cater too.

I'm not talking about kids travelling with their families and having something to do..

direct from Michael Bayley;

"Other plans Bayley discussed included a deal with Microsoft's gaming arm X-box. He confirmed that plans to equip ships with areas devoted to X-box gaming were at an advanced stage, adding that Celebrity also hopes to incorporate X-box Live onboard (allowing participants to compete against each other from different locations via internet).

“We're rebuilding some of our spaces across our entire fleet,” Bayley said. “We will have the largest X-box gaming facilities at sea.”

I'd like to hear comments from fellow CC members...are you worried about this? Is this a good thing or bad or are you indifferent.

Don't get me wrong...i'm a big kid(53) and i love video games but on a cruise:(

Maybe Michael got confuse with the X of Xbox and thought it was cruise related:)

How is that really any different from the casino? Slot machines are essentially video games...... I am a hard core gamer....in the worldof Casinos. Because of people like me you can find a lounger on a sea day when I am couped up in the casino for five hours......

On my Alaska cruise me and a bunch of "hard core watercolorists" took water color class every day and then sat and painted in the foward lounge......would that bother you?

Why would someone who is a professional gamer, go on a cruise ship to play games? Are we concerned about the basketball hoops on the sports deck attracting NBA players to cruise on Celebrity?

Not that there would be anything wrong with that.

Yes God forbid the NBA takes over the hoops on the sports deck........

There will be thread upon thread dedicated to questions about whether people were bothered on their balcony by flying glass from shattering backboards......

Or whether the sounds of early moring dunking made the Aqua Class staterooms nearby less desirable.......

Several years ago Celebrity started down the corporate partnering road with SONY and its interactive in-cabin television system on C-class ships. Following that there's been Reidel wine glasses, Rosetta Stone language lessons, Smithsonian lecturers, Apple products and shortly, Microsoft Xbox. While I'm sure there is a business advantage to twinning with one or more corporate brands (although I can't imagine anyone choosing one cruise line over another simply because of a branding agreement), I think the Celebrity brand has enough going for it to stand well on its own. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I find these brand partnerships more of a commercial detraction than an enhancement to the Celebrity product. JMHO.

I'm 53 years old and in the health profession and i love playing video games so in no way do i associate gamers with being low class.

My understanding of hard core gamers(garnered from my university aged daughter) is the player who sits by the computer/game console for hours and hours at a time(sometimes all day) online competing with others.

Believe it or not there is an actual professional tour for gamers and they are typically in their late teens to mid 30's.

That's the clientele that i'm worried about and yes that is quite different than kids traveling with their parents having some fun during their down time.

Having an option for teens on a cruise with their parents would be a great idea if that's the intent.

Sorry, didn't mean to dis anyone or hurt anyone's feelings.

I hardly think that a person who has the time to sit around all day playing computer games makes the kind of money needed to take a cruise, so don't worry there. Unless of course he is one of these professional gamers you speak of

The main demographic of "gamers" is actually people in their 30's-40's, who spent their childhoods with gaming consoles as an entertainment device. It's this same group of people who now have disposable incomes that they can spend on things like cruising. Personally I think it is very smart of Celebrity to include more entertainment options for this demographic and entice more "younger" people onto the line.

Teenage son will now happily cruise with us, and I know that he will be also be happily busy after hours, when we, dear ole' stodgy no life, never have any fun parents will be drinking and dancing the night away. Hah!

He is too young to really club and party, but too old to hang out in the kids' club.

thanks X
