Robinhill Posted March 20, 2013 #28 Share Posted March 20, 2013 Sailed the Vision of the Seas with five of my great friends from March 8th to 18th and then got on the Majesty of the Seas for my first solo cruise since my husband passed away. I was so proud of my big step when getting on the ship but then had mixed feelings about being there after I boarded. While I was sitting at the pool deck waiting for my room, two of my daughters showed up from Ontario to sail with me. There were many tears and a lot of excitement. Their welcome aboard photo has them holding signs saying "Surprise Mom". Life is wonderful. What wonderful daughters you have! This was a lovely thing for them to do to surprise you and help you feel better on the cruise solo! ;)
Rare BillOh Posted March 20, 2013 #29 Share Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks for sharing. It must have been nerve wracking for your daughters keeping a secret and trying to keep track of you so they would know if you changed your mind.
pepsicruiser Posted March 20, 2013 #30 Share Posted March 20, 2013 They are wonderful daughters indeed BUT you are the one who helped them develop into loving people so be proud of what YOU did for your daughters to want to be there with you. weechloe Posted March 20, 2013 Author #31 Share Posted March 20, 2013 I love all your responses. We just got back from a wonderful day at Cocoa Cay. Many pictures of all three of us. I am truly blessed. Tonight is formal night and we can hardly wait. My youngest girl, 29, was going to leave her teddy bear Honey Joe at the guest relations and have me paged to say that I had left something there. They had all sorts of things up their sleeves and we have laughed and shared this with everyone. Thanks for sharing and we are having a wonderful cruise. waterbugohio Posted March 20, 2013 #34 Share Posted March 20, 2013 What a wonderful story. Hope you will be able to share photos when you get home. You are blessed to have such wonderful daughters. Thanks also for helping me today. I invited my elderly parents on my "girls only" cruise that I am taking next month. I am starting to realize that more of my time may need to be with my parents instead of with my girlfriends. However, with my mom in the starting stages of dementia, I know that I will always treasure this trip. Thanks for the reminder to give back to the wonderful parents we have!! Enjoy (also wiping tears)
