Jewel vs other Radiance Class ships

After reading about the Jewel and posters talking about other "Radiance Class" ships, it made me wonder how much distinction there is between each Radiance Class ship. What make the biggest difference? Staff, food entertainment or all of the above? Is the decor basically the same?

With that said we love to dance (not the predetermined steps dancing) just doing our own thing dancing, how is the disco? Does the DJ accept request (some do some don't)? On Carnival forget requests, on NCL they would take some request but HAL was the best, we brought 2 CDs for the DJ and he played every song we had on them. You wouldn't think that on HAL (caters to the older crowd, we felt very young on that ship and we were in our upper forties:D), but the disco was not too busy most nights.

Thanks for making our cruising better!

One difference I know about are the different shower enclosures for the non-suite staterooms. Radiance and Brilliance have shower curtains. Jewel and Serenade have the cylindrical shower enclosure with a sliding panel.

Ship design and layout is the same. Decor varies. Jewel will be the last ship to be "revitalized" so she still has the Seaview Cafe, at no charge, and Portofino, which will be changed to Giovanni's Table during her revitalization. Radiance and I think Serenade have been thru' this and so have added features. Added dining venues for a fee, Diamond Clubs, nursery, etc. Brilliance is due soon. So tho' the basic design is the same, there are some differences since the revitalization project began.

The only Radiance class ship we have been on so far was the Radiance of the Seas. We sailed on her last August for our southbound Alaska cruise from Seward to Vancouver. It was the most fantastic experiece we have had so far since we started cruising.

She is a beautiful ship! If you would like to take a look at some pictures, you are welcome to view the ones my wife took. The link below will take you directly to her "Around The Ship" pictures, which include some pictures of our suite. The slideshow will play as soon as the page opens, but you can also go through the pictures by clicking on the thumbnails one at a time.

Happy Saiing. It a great way to see the world!

I've been on all 4, with Jewel being my favorite. Clarea already mentioned the showers.

Another is decor. Radiance for example felt more blah and dull while Jewel's decorating seemed richer (lighter woods vs darker woods used etc).

Biggest thing though is the crew. Each crew has a different personality, and there's just been something about the crew on Jewel every time I've been on her that makes her shine the brightest. Not saying the others weren't good, just there was that something extra that is undefinable on the Jewel.

Been on all 4 Radiance class ships and the Jewel is my favorite. In fact, after 20 cruises on many ships and many cruise lines, the Jewel is still my all time favorite (even more than the QM2). I would love to sail on her one more time before her retrofit because I LOVE the Seaview Cafe.

We loved sailing on Serenade, and the Seaview Cafe, so we're sure to enjoy Jewel also! I am happy to see she is doing Southern Caribbean routes for 2014, and am excited that we'll get to enjoy the Seaview Cafe again.
