how can OBC be used?

So, we have 2 rooms book. First room is me and 1 child, second is my husband and 2 children. My room has a $210 OBC and my husbands has $60 OBC. We have no experience with using the OBC and not sure what we will use them for. Can they be used for the gratuities? We are not doing any carnival excursions so we would not use it there. The only thing we had planned on purchasing was the cheers program for my husband....however, my room is the one with the larger OBC. Can the credits be used by someone in the other room since we are booked together? I'm sure we will end up spending WAY more than the $270 but I just like to plan ahead where we will use this credit. Thanks:D

You can ask to transfer the OBC at the pursers desk. I had $100 for stock and told a roomie I would give her half and I was able, but we were in the same cabin.

At $11.50 pp per days tips will eat up a lot of that OBC. You wouldnt have much left and your husbands cabin none.

or if you would prefer to have it in cash thn simply go to a slot machine in the casino and load the amount of your OBC to your casino account. The you can cash it out at the casino cage. I like to do this as I like getting my CC rewards on the CC and can just apply the cash back to my CC once home if I want.

I didnt think gratuities could be paid with OBC. Ive never sailed on Carnival, but all other cruiselines Ive sailed, it was not allowed.

What lines dont allow it? surprised.

I know Carnival and RCL both allow tips to be paid with any OBC on your account. I do it all the time on both lines.

RCL (2009), NCL (2007 and 2012) and Disney (2010). Maybe things changed .

(I just googled RCL policy and apparently you can pay gratuities with OBC. Good to know for the future! NCL you still can not pay gratuities and DCL you can only if you have additional $$ left at the end of your trip on your OBC. All other purchases will be paid first by the OBC)
