Cave Tubing in Belize

We will be visiting Belize in November. A couple of questions for those who did the tubing through the caves. I am a little claustrophobic. How much room is there in the caves? Is it real narrow with a low roof? How long are you in the caves? Also how far is the walk from the van to where you launch the tubes? Thanks for any answers.

We just got back and tubed with cavetubing.bz - very good experience. the walk to the river is about 1.5 miles over an uneven rocky path. the water felt great to get in after carrying the tubes. If you struggle the guides will help. the tubing was about 2 miles. Beautiful caves with stalagtites- pretty large and wide, no problem with head room. the flow was low in march - sometimes it was butts up to not hit rocks as you go over. Just a few tiny "rapids".It depends on the season and rain. Lunch was included and there was free wifi at the lunch site (in the middle of nowhere)

Our cave-tubing excursion in 2006 has been the best excursion to date! We booked online with a company (add a dot com after the activity mentioned above). I believe it's the most popluar company, anyway...

The "hike" was about 45 minutes with our small group. Wear sturdy water shoes with a good sole. We carried our tubes, life jackets, and head lamps. Because we weren't with the cruise ship tour, we hiked a bit further and did 1 extra cave.

-Caves are large, no really tight areas, a couple minutes inside, unless you pause for pictures. Lots of photo-ops!

-Yes, we saw bats!! Kinda creepy in my book, but still cool.

-We floated down the river in chains for safety and listened to our guide yelling our warning of BUTTS-UP!!

Have a wonderful time!! :D
