LISBON - Purchasing transportation "day ticket"

Recommended Posts

Hoping that someone can answer a question for me.

We will be in Lisbon in May. We would like to purchase the one day transportation pass (used to cost 5.5 EUR).

There is a newsstand on the corner of Av. 24 Julho and Rua Cascais. Cruisers that have docked at Alcântara are probably aware of this newstand.

My question: Does anyone know the hours of operation for the newstand? Specifically, is the stand closed from about 12 noon to 1:00 pm?

Our ship arrives at a rather strange time (noon) and I am wondering if the owner closes for lunch and, if so, for how long?

Anyone? Any Lisbon experts?

Don't know about newsstand hours but your cruise line may provide free shuttle to center where you can buy the day pass. If not Cais Sodre metro is no more than 30 min walk (or short tram/bus ride) from Alcantara dock. You can buy day ticket there for sure, cost is 6E. For bus routes from there see http://www.carris.pt/en/buslines/pesquisa/?origem=Alc%E2ntara+%2F+Av.+24+Julho&destino=Cais+Sodr%E9
