BCH or Sheraton

Thanks so much for your quick reply! Do you know if the Hilton has a casino?

No, it does not.. it's a small business hotel with a private beach on the harbour.

Crystal Palace Casino is next to the Sheraton. it's slots only during the week.. no table games except a few special events weekends.

Does the Sheraton have day passes? My group includes my mom who doesn't do well in the sun but loves casinos, my two sisters who are in their 50s and my two nieces who are in their 20s. The nieces want to do water stuff. I am looking for a place that we can all go and do different things. Ideas?

BCH is very laid back and relaxed. The water is calm and beautiful, the beach was clean. The pool is a decent size and a comfortable temperature and the food was good. We just walked up to the desk iin the lobby and paid $65pp and got a $40pp food/beverage voucher. The hotel was beautiful. We never felt overcrowded. If your looking for a relaxed setting this is your place. The only thing that was a bit of a pain was that a lot of the shade structures over the lounge chairs weren't working correctly. We had to do a little searching to find ones that worked.

$30 PP. I think the beach at the Sheraton is a lot prettier than the one at the Hilton.

That does not include any voucher for food or drink. At BH the voucher is for 40.00 :)

Yes, but the total cost for the pass is $65. I'd rather just pay $30, and buy lunch and drinks if I chose to. The sheraton even had a cooler of water at the bar, for free. We just ate a big breakfast on the ship, and ordered some room service when we got back to the ship.

The Sheraton is 5 miles from port. I've never heard of anyone having to purchase tickets from a taxi or jitney (they don't even have tickets)..

The only R/t tickets you might come upon is the water taxi to Paradise Island.. but you CAN buy a single ride.. but that's neither here nor there.. since it doesn't go to the Sheraton.

Taxi VAN is $4pp. If a regular taxi the rate is $15 for 2 ppl.

Jitney is $1.25pp.

OK I know that they probably have been posted somewhere, but can you post exact directions on how to catch the #10 jitney, we want to go to the Sheraton and I know my husband would love that I saved him some money. LOL Even though I will spend it some place else. Ha ha

Thanks Scubagirl for all your help

Board the jitney on George Street.. off bay.

From port exit.. walk forward on Parliament Street to Bay Street.

Make a right on Bay Street and walk 3 blocks to the straw market..

just as you pass the market, George Street is on the left, going up the hill.

Drivers will direct you to the next bus.. #10, or 12a will do.

Tell the driver where you want to go.. and pay $1.25 pp as you leave the vehicle.

On the way back, the bus stop is just outside the Sheraton entrance.

Once at the sheraton, head to the front desk to purchase your passes.

We did the Sheraton Day Pass several years ago and were beyond happy with it. I'm just curious, we are heading back in June with our two girls, ages 8 and 13 that want to parasail. Are there opportunities to parasail at any of the hotels on Cable Beach? We loved the Sheraton and plan to go back but we also want to be able to take them parasailing and it would be easier if we didn't have to run all over the island to do so.

I don't think we would use the difference up in food either. Eating a large breakfast, then maybe stopping at a fish fry on the way back. I was thinking of a room for the day, but what if he weather is raining? I would lose the deposit I would guess, or more.

Guess we'll just wing it this trip. Scuba girl had great info for us to decid plan A and B. the only issue is taking dh scooter, or transport chair. The difference is independence, and sand.

Hello, I just booked the day room at the Sheraton. They did not ask for a deposit, just my name. Sent an e-mail back with the confirmation #. :)

I was searching for info on the prices of the buffet at the Sheraton to see if the package was worth it and this is what I came up with. I believe this entry is a couple of years old so take into count inflation. It looks like the buffet if purchased by itself is around $30.

I think I will wing it and not pre purchase the package in case we change our minds but definitely planning to head to the Sheraton.

Did you make this reservation by phone? If so, using what number?

When I booked last year, they required a credit card with a 3-DAY CANCELATION. For my upcoming cruise, I would love to hold a reservation with only my name. I liked the Shearon day room last year, but if my DH's knee is acting up, he won't be up to the Jitney schlep... and we won't know that 3 days in advance... Thx

How is the snorkeling at BCH?? Is it easy enough to access from shore?

George Street is on the left, going up the hill.

How hilly is the hill and are there other inclined areas around the port? Do you know the answer to my other question above? We were going to go to Senior Frogs and the straw market then head to a clean beach with great shore snorkeling. Does it sound like BCH or the Sheraton would fit the bill? We don't need anywhere to eat, pools or other amenities other than clean bathrooms, a shower would be nice, and great snorkeling.

Any suggestions would be awesome!

I did not call, I used this e-mail address: Patricia.Anderson@sheraton.com.

All of our communication has been thru this. I had originally asked for details and then told her I wanted to book it. My next e-mail came with a confirmation #.

MissRabbit - the British Colonial Hilton has a nice beach, but I would not recommend it for snorkeling. I tried it while there, but no coral and only minnows - definitely nothing interesting. I don't know about the Sheraton, but I have seen posts from Scubagirrl saying that Nassau doesn't really have good snorkeling locations from the beach - you really have to take a boat trip for good snorkeling. We went with blue hole watersports which leaves from the Hilton, and we had a great experience with them. I would highly recommend them. Small boats with max 8 people and 2 nice sites. We also saw some interesting fish from the dock at blue hole watersports - on the side by senor frogs/not the beach side - but this definitely wasn't an area that would be safe to snorkel since there was boat traffic.
