Toulon to Aix en Provence-- can we take a taxi?

We will be at the Toulon port on July 1 on Royal Caribbean Liberty and we are trying to find a way to get to Aix as easily as possible. Has anyone taken a taxi there? I have seen the train info and I am not sure were Royal will be docking -- and I want to avoid the $54/pp charge for the shore excursion.

Aix is not close to Toulon. You might find private transportation that will get you there and back for less than $54 pp but it is probably not a taxi that you can just hail in Toulon.

Sure you could take a taxi but it will cost you hundreds of Euros. It is about 55 miles one-way :)

We did the $54 tour on Liberty last summer (I think we were there June 30). For two of us we were pretty happy with it. It was hassle free and folks that didn't want to stay with the guide asked where the meeting place was and wandered off on their own.
