Which airport?

Recommended Posts

Hi, we are looking to book Explorer from Quebec to New York in September, we will be flying in from Orlando, can anyone advise which airport is best, some websites say Quebec and others Montreal, as we are not from the US if we go into Montreal is there a train and is it a scenic journey?

You can fly in to either YQB (Quebec City) or YUL (Montreal) airports. There is a train from Montreal to Quebec, and the station is actually quite a bit closer to the cruise port than YQB is; while there's a station at the airport, I think you have to change at the main station in downtown Montreal to get your train to Quebec. Alternately, you can get a direct bus from YUL to the bus station in Québec (same building as the train station).

Not much scenery along this route, alas. If you really want scenic, and are willing to spend a couple of days on the journey, fly into New York, then train from NY-Montreal - while I've never taken it, it's supposed to be one of the most scenic train trips in North America.

You can fly to either, but Montreal may be less expensive. There is train and bus service to Quebec. They are not overly scenic, but they both get you into downtown Quebec.

Not particularly scenic by train . You cross the river to the south shore of the St lawrence river, then it's a flat straight line to levis, Quebec and cross the river again. You have to get to Gare Centrale in Montreal.

The bus from the Montreal airport would probably be along the north shore. Bus fare is $68 per person. Bus leaves 7 times a day and takes 4 hours

Bus service from downtown montreal is twice as frequent and 3 hrs and 15 minutes. BTW the bus company website has a button for English. It's tiny weensy but it is there.

I would fly into Quebec city unless I could spend time in Montreal which is a marvellous place to spend time. However Quebec city is even more unique so extra time there is also well warranted.
