Inner Passage (RT Seattle) as a Family Vacation: Issues for a 4 year-old?

In Retirement

Recommended Posts

We are a group of 10, from age 66 to age 4. Two older boys (6, 12) will really love the boat experience, Glacier Bay, wildlife sightings, the train at Skagway and humpbacks at Juneau. We are concerned about how the 4 year-old will adjust. He is bright and sociable and attends preschool. Wonder if those with cruise experience with young children would post their experiences. (We are recently returned from DisneyWorld where everything in rental house, rented van with car seat, and park activities were age-appropriate.)

We intend to eat together (early dinning) and send the three boys to youth activities onboard (Star Princess). Our group is sharing three adjacent balcony cabins and expect a conversion to one large balcony. What experience do you have with a young child on typical tours (Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan, Victoria)? Child seat or safety restraints, etc? For example, we believe that a couple of hours at Boutchart Gardens will easily work, but is any accommodation made for the shuttle to/from ship?

Your observations may go a long way to making this week a success.

Much thanks,

DJ:)

We did AK with out 10 year old granddaughter on Princess. She looked at the schedule of activities in the kid's area and her comment was BORING!!. She preferred to experience AK with us on board the ship instead of playing in the kid's area.

It was totally her choice - we did not push her to spend time w us.
