New Orleans Cruise Terminal question

Airport is about 30 minutes away in light traffic, in heavy traffic it can be over an hour. Shuttles through the cruise line might be available, but other than that your options are usually taxis. New Orleans has a huge taxi lobby and pushes any competition out of the market.

Prices vary, but I have seen $35 for two people before. YMMV though.

They switched gangways and relocated the Erato street gangway farther down to accommodate the Carnival Dream. The Check in counters have been switched to the other side where the display about river pilots used to be. The Priority room has been relocated and expanded.

Pictures linked on the page below, it looks like a brilliant update to the terminal!

Coming in Nov on the Serenade after TA. We have never been to New Orleans. What options do we have just to get to airport. Distance to travel. Estimate taxi cost. Do shuttle services exist. Thanks in advance.

Taxis abound - the flat rate between the cruise port and the airport is $33.00 for two passengers. 3 passengers are charged out at $16.00 each, so it does go up sharply from there. The rate is posted inside the cab and at the airport on sign boards. We did this twice recently, and gave our driver $40.00. He was happy.

Thanks for the info! We're going on Serenade next year and not familiar with New Orleans at all. Looking at possibly staying at the Embassy Suites near the port...

The Embassy Suites near the Convention Center was wonderful for us. They are in the middle of renovations now but by next year every room should be done. Recommended! You can walk to the pier if you so desire.

The Riverwalk was closed in Sept and we were told it wouldn't be opened until May or June. Has it opened early?

Not even close when we were there last month.
