G.M.T. Posted April 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2013 For the German cruise market, the sales force of both Costa and Aida is being structed into one organisation, so TA will have just one communication channel to deal with. I don't think this is just a cost reduction exercise, AIDA is almost 100% German passengers and German is Costa's second biggest market after Italy, the blurb is talking about 24 ships (with 3 more in the pipeline) going to ove 250 destinations. The former head of AIDA is now the head of Costa (reminds me of one the very few German jokes, this applies to Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall "Do you know that the East German Pole Vault champion is now the West German champion"). Is this the beginning of more joint ventures, rebranding or even amalgamation??? So now we'll have to come up with a new name for the line, how about: C o s t A I D Ron
Dancer Bob Posted April 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2013 I presume this is just for the German market. I´ve been told AIDA is only German-speaking and will not take English language bookings, unless this does indicate a change in their policy.
