We've had land-based vacations on St Martin and St Thomas and have cruised to all of these islands, all gorgeous islands in their own right. For excursions are you thinking daysails or something more active? You have ziplinng on St Thomas and the mountains of St Lucia for ATV through the jungle and a cat sail.

All of these islands have gorgeous beaches, but Barbados has stunning beaches and we'd spend our time on a beach in Barbados. You could take the ship excursion to Brandon's Beach (aka Malibu Beach) on Barbados or you could just taxi there on your own. If you happen to be docked until 11PM taxi to a beach bar up the west coast for flying fish and Banks beer and you'll see your ship lot up, very small and shimmering in the distance.

St Thomas - Sapphire Beach is our favorite beach for enjoying the water colors and island views. We rent a condo there because it is very nice and has good snorkeling. Or you can take a self-excursion and ferry to St John for Trunk or Cinnamon. For the best snorkeling and a nice day on the water take a daysail out of Sapphire or Red Hook Marina on the New Horizons, Yacht Nightwind, or High Pockets.

St Lucia - Land/water excursion is excellent.

St Kitt's - cat sail to Pinneys Beach on Nevis.

St Maarten - Golden Eagle cat sail (sxm sailing dot com, excellent) or taxi to one of the nicer beaches on the west coast.

We are heading to the Southern Caribbean in December 2013 with stops in St Thomas, Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts, and St Maarten.

Which stops have the best beaches, bars, and excursions?

Rock Chalk Jayhawk

St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Barbados have better beaches and beach bars than St. Lucia and St. Kitts have ... especially better than St. Lucia!

They are all great ports! I hate to say this, but if you check out the Ports of Call section you will find great info on each one.

St Thomas, I recommend Coki Beach

Barbados Folkestone and St James Parish~ take the bus

St Lucia Take a catamaran tour to the Pitons

St Kitts I like Cockelshell lots to do, bars, horsebackriding, and it's just pretty

St Maarten~ Maho Beach, later morning, but give yourself time to get back, traffic is busy

Have Fun!

We love some of the beaches and bars of both St Lucia and St Kitts.

On St Kitts you'll find very nice beaches and beach bars to lime at -

Reggae beach Bar on Reggae Beach, Shiggidy Shack and Ziggy's in Frigate Bay, or the Shipwreck on South Friar's.

On St Lucia Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay is the primary beach attraction with Spinnakers and several other spots. We love the White Sand cocktail at Jambe de Bois on Pigeon Island a short water taxi from Rodney Bay, quieter spot to relax near the old fort. Not really an island anymore because it's been built-up and Sandals and the Landings have been developed.

So many islands and so many choices! :p
