schylger Posted April 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2013 I am trying to complete my history addition to http://www.hollandamericaline.us and am missing the top level certificate of the first HAL Mariner Society awards program. This is the "Grand Mariner" certificate. If anyone has one, I would appreciate a scan or photocopy so I can complete the webpage and add it to the history section. Kind regards Tiemen Spits
antique sailor Posted June 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2013 AHOY SHIPMATE I dont have one but am interested in what year they first appeared Unfortunately most people in that category have passed on as have most of the WCers. Capt Scoonderby is the offical HAL historian and still working. You might message him. Gary
rkacruiser Posted June 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2013 Your post jogged my memory and I got into my photo albums and found a photo of me with Captain Edward G. van Zaane and a Hotel Manager whose name escapes me (sorry, sir!) on the Rotterdam V on an Alaskan cruise in 1996 with my Cadet Mariner Certificate. Something that is now an antique, and no longer given. My next project will be to try to see if I can find this antique! Ought to have it framed if I am successful!
