Nanatravel Posted June 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2005 Depending on the time of year (daylight savings time the best), a ships tour to El Yunque rain forest is nice. If you don't want to do a ship's tour, just do a walking tour of Old San Juan. Once you get to the pink information center, get a walking tour pocket map and start walking through LaPrincessa. There is a free trolley, if you are lucky to get on it. Ride all the way up to El Morro, tour then walk downhill from there. Don't miss Pigeon Park, the chapel with the Silver alter, El Convento hotel, San Juan Cathedral, etc. Bon voyage
Katie333 Posted June 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2005 We got in around the same time, and once we got to the landing, there was the usual assortment of tour operators. For $20 2 of us hopped in a small mini bus with 8 other people and got a tour of old and new San Juan, which included 3 photo stops, a washroom break and souvenir shopping. We were then dropped off in Old San Juan so we could walk the cobbled streets downhill back to the ship and shop/stop along the way - lots of photo opps! It was fun and the guide was great, the whole thing was much better than I had expected. :)
gypsygirl Posted June 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2005 We'll be in San Juan early November from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. Is that time enough to tour the rain forest? Do you have to do any walking or can you see it from the van?
carbon Posted June 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 27, 2005 Will be there in March. Would like to Bioluminessent trip. Our ship is in port 2pm-10pm. Can we get the bio in? Are there guides at the pier?
wherenext Posted August 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2005 carbon - heard back from several tour operators that we would not be able to do the biobay trip with an arrival this late in the evening....they suggested that our next cruise we depart from San Juan and get in a day or two early so that we can experience it. Too bad as we will be there in November at the same time and according to their calendar the moon was ideal for a fantastic view.
