Finally a Freedom review with pictures! :)

We are going in October, and I check every day for a Freedom review, and it's always Allure, or Oasis, or Independence!

Thank you for taking the time to do this!

Or a FOS Western...

Great review... Looking forward to the rest of it. Do you have the cruise compasses by any chance?

Thanks! I don't, sorry! I thought I saw some on here not too long ago and I'm pretty sure they were the same!

Thanks for writing. Great review so far. We are on the Freedom, same itinerary in June. Can't wait! Looking forward to hearing about the ports.

Thanks!! The ports were awesome and my excursions come highly recommended, they were the best!

We were up bright and early to catch the 10:15 shuttle to the port. This was a smooth process, just like last time. We were in line by 10:45 and on the ship by 11:30. I thought the process was efficient and easy!

Once on we headed straight to the pool area for a nice welcome aboard drink! We enjoyed the steel drums and band there too! I loved the guy who sold these drinks, all day he walked around and his signature line was "SO nice!". I must agree, so nice!

Our rooms were ready around 1, so we headed there to drop the carry on's and then went exploring! Such a huge ship, but we quickly figured out where everything was. We went over to the Windjammer and had a nice lunch with a little of everything!

Our room was 7583, a promenade view room. We had a nice view of Vintage's Wine Bar!

Jon at sailaway watching the Sensation leave (we have a 3 day Bahama's cruise on her in June)!

Jon (still with the bookbag) checking out the basketball courts, he wound up spending a good chunk of time here!

We spend the rest of the afternoon checking out EVERYTHING before heading up to change for dinner. I stopped by the welcome aboard show at 7pm and it was what I expected, but the performers Ildiko and Peter were pretty impressive!

We had a WONDERFUL dinner table (#112 anybody out there?) with Tammy, Rick, Gina, and Carole! My only regret is we didn't get a group photo before we left! Our waitress was Lizel from the Phillipines and she was very sweet and prompt. For dinner tonight I had the smoked fish rillettes (fish dip), spinach salad with balsamic, and the horseradish crusted salmon. For dessert I tried the BBB creme brulee, and this was the only thing I didn't really care for, but I was super full so I was happy. Jon enjoyed the same appetizers and the prime rib with horseradish, which I also kept taking off his plate, it was good! He had the blueberry/peach crumble with icecream for dessert, and knocked out my creme brulee since he really enjoyed it!

The seas were rocking and rolling even though the weather was fine (I guess it was the wind) so Jon's patch wasn't working so he called it a night pretty soon after dinner. I explored a little more then hit the sack since we had an early day tomorrow.

Up next, Coco Cay!

I have room 7587 booked for Oct 6th, so my room will be right near where you were. Thanks for the review, great so far.

DW and I are on the Oct. 13th cruise, we get on as you get off. It will be our 2nd cruise ever and the 2nd time on the Freedom. We love the ship.

Yay!!! Finally feedback about where this cabin is located! My parents will be in 7283 - just opposite side. Now I can at least see that they will be over Vintage's and probably across from the Souvenir shop. ...good thing - my dad can keep an eye on my mom's shopping from the comfort of his cabin :D

Thank you for posting this information! I look forward to hear more about the ports.

Hahaha, that's what Jon said too! He loved it! Maybe it was the bananas? I don't know! Thanks for reading, it was a great trip and I'm ready to go back! I saw you did the western route, which was your favorite? Jon and I are eyeing that western cruise for next spring on the Freedom!

For me hands down, Eastern. I loved the ports! On the Western route, the only port that I thoroughly enjoyed was Jamacia. I was never a "party girl" and Grand Caymen & Cozumel, just seemed a waste. ;)

Great review so far and nice pictures!

We sort of have a similar cruising history (starting with the Dream and the Freedom Eastern) and I would agree with most of your points of comparison to Carnival. I think the other thing we liked better about the Freedom vs Dream was the quantity of pool space. The Dream just didn't compare in this regard...but yes Carnival definitely wins for the chocolate melting cake and desserts!

I think you should go ahead and do the Freedom western! :) I found it almost more relaxing of a trip going on the same ship a second time because I didn't feel the need to rush around seeing everything because we had 'been there, done that'. :p

Thanks for reading! I really enjoyed being on deck 7, it was high enough to get up to the pool and buffet, but low enough where it was convenient to promenade, casino, dining room, and the gangway. We didn't take an elevator the entire trip!

Great start so far! Too many ships to go on!! We haven't done Freedom class (yet), so I'm always happy to find a review!

Can't wait to read more!

Thanks for reading! I love reading these reviews too, they really are helpful. I'm actually excited about my small ship cruise on Carnival in June...I've been on 2 really large ships so I think it will be interesting to be on this smaller, older ship. I'll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for posting. We are cruising Liberty on 4/7/14. I've cruised Liberty with my hubby and son but the next cruise is my girlfriend and I. Woo!

Mary

Thanks for reading! I had a great trip this time with Jon, but my first cruise with friends was a lot of fun too. I know you'll have a great time!

This is the reason I posted the room picture and information! A lot of times it is hard to find out cabin specifics. Thanks for reading!

Yeah, I've only been to Cozumel once, on my last cruise. It was just "ok", not somewhere I'd choose to go to exclusively. We had a good day there at Playa Uvas, but Belize, Roatan, and Costa Maya were way better to me! I've been to Jamaica (flying there) 4 times so I know all about it. I do love it, but I've been there, done that. Haven't made it to GC, but my parents went and had a good private excursion while they were on their NCL cruise. May just need to do that western Carnival trip again....it really was a great week! Thanks for the info!

I do agree about pool space too! Freedom wins, but I LOVED the Dream's aft pool, too bad the serenity deck didn't have an adults only pool like the solarium! Good point about the western, I've been to Cozumel (and it was ok), and Jamaica 4 times, but Labadee looks nice and I've never made it to GC...hmm sounds tempting! I really loved St. Thomas and St. Maarten and can't wait for y'all to read about my excursions there...AMAZING! Thanks for reading!
