Disappointed with Royal Booking Agent

I booked 3 weeks ago via a phone agent for a December sailing for Oasis of the Seas. I held the room the night before and he called the next day to help me book. He said there was a special $150 promotion going for my sailing for anyone who booked an oceanview room. I was going to book regardless so I was excited to be getting a little off, basically covering our tips for the week.

I went ahead and booked and he said that it would take 1 week for the credit to show on our acct. It hadnt shown so I emailed him about a week and a half later and he said to "keep in mind it would take 1-2 weeks".

We decided at the beginning of this week to transfer our booking to a travel agent we had previously used since we are new to Royal and figured she would be able to help me with any questions I had. The credit had not shown yet but I figured it would.

Today my TA emailed me to let me know that Royal Caribbean has no info on this credit and asked me to send her what I had so she can try to call again.

Anyone else have this happen? I was going to book regardless but now I feel like I was lied to so that he could get the sale.

Heres what I think happened. There was a C&A coupon for our sailing. Having said that, if this is your first cruise with Royal Caribbean, you wouldn't be enetitled to that since you are not a C&A member. I wouldn't be happy either. He should have known that you weren't eligable.

If you have a copy of the email where he said $150 would be taken off your cruise, I would call Royal Caribbean and ask to speak to resolutions. It doesn't hurt to try, they may honor it, since you were told inaccurate information.

Thanks. I went ahead and forwarded it to our TA and plan on calling to complain about it. He definitely knew we were knew to Royal because I explained how I was trying Royal after our last experience on Carnival wasnt the best yada yada yada. Thanks for the info!

I have never had RCI tell me that there was a C&A coupon for a sailing. I have always had to tell them. And a C&A coupon would not have only applied to an ocean view category as the rep seemed to imply. They may have had a special rate on ocean view categories at the time of booking which may have later expired. Your TA is going to have to find out if there were any special rates going on the date that you made the booking. They might also be able to listen to the tape of the conversation that you had with the rep.

No problem, let us know how it turns out.

I could be wrong, of course, but I have a strong feeling he was talking about the $150 C&A coupon, knowing you were first time Royal Caribbean cruisers .

I've had them tell me twice, but have declined because I knew I would be using the balcony discount. The C&A coupon would have applied to all of them, but it would have been half the amount for insides. The $150 for oceanviews is what is giving me the idea it was a coupon.

You may be right. I know when I booked my last cruise they were having a special on ocean views that just lasted a few days. That was why I mentioned it. I was also able to use a C&A coupon on top of the special pricing.

Thanks all.. yea he said that the special was only 2 more days but my TA has emailed him ,forwarding my note which he replied that it would take 1-2 weeks to be applied so hopefully we get somewhere. If not oh well I am still happy to be on such a great ship in my first balcony.

The coupon expired 3/31, did you by chance book at the end of March?

If you don't get anywhere with him, which I suspect you won't, have your TA call resolutions. They have been pretty good at times in the past. :)

Here is a breakdown of the C&A Savings Certificates for "Gold" Members for an OV cabin...

For Outside Stateroom

$50 for 3-5 nights

$125 for 6-9 nights

$200 for 10-14 nights

$200 for 15+ nights

As you can see, there is no $150 C&A Savings Certificate for Gold Members.

If the RCI rep quoted the OP $150, then he was quoting the OP an amount available to Platinum and above, which seems strange.

Just to update everyone that was so kind to help with their suggestions, my TA was able to speak to the agent I booked with. He let her know the promo was a Casino offer. He have her the code so hopefully she will be able to get in touch with Royal and have it applied.
