Airport to Montreal

Recommended Posts

We're staying a few days in Montreal prior to our cruise. We are staying in the Convention/Old Town Area. What's the best way to get from the airport? I drove to Montreal a few years back, but have never flown in.

If you can manage your luggage, you can take the 747 bus to Lionel-Groulx metro station, then take the orange metro to Place D'Armes. There are luggage racks on the bus. The ticket for the bus is $9 and is valid for 24h on the buses and metro. A taxi would be $40 plus tip.

Just a note... "Old Town" (Vieux Ville) refers to Quebec City, in Montreal it is Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal) or lesser used... the Old Port (Vieux Port). If you ask someone in Montreal where Old Town is, they are likely to point you to the inter-city bus. (Old Port is a specific part of Old Montreal, which is why it is used less.)

Any idea how long it takes to transit into town?

We took a cab from the Hotel Nelligan in old Montreal to the airport on Monday morning and got there in about 20 minutes. As was noted, it's a fixed price of $40 Canadian.

Of course, Monday was a holiday in Canada so I'm sure that this was the equivalent of weekend traffic. Hope this helps.

We took the 747 bus from the Montreal airport last month. There is an automated ticket machine next to the bus information desk that takes cash and credit cards. The machine prompts were easy to follow. The bus driver announced the stops in both French and English. The number of stops provided by Google Map directions was correct for out hotel. The trip from the airport to the area near the pier hotels was abot 30 minutes, and the busses ran frequently.
