chiguypaul Posted April 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I have seven and ten year old boys. My wife and I are conflicted about taking the Liberty/Independence vs a Celebrity. RCL would definitely have some nice things for the kids and we've been on the Liberty before with them and they loved it. My wife and I like the Celebrity experience and the food, but are concerned about seven days on the Celebrity with the kids. They've never been crazy about the RCL kids program. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated. We're looking at taking the Celebrity Silhouette. Many thanks!

Since you know they don't like RCI kids program, maybe it's time to try Celebrity's kid's program.
chiguypaul Posted April 22, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Since you know they don't like RCI kids program, maybe it's time to try Celebrity's kid's program. I hear you. I've read lots of reviews on all the kids programs and they all sound about the same. The kids program isn't the deciding factor.
NICruisers Posted April 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2013 If the vacation is not all about the kid's programs then perhaps you should be a little selfish and go where the parents will be happiest .. after all, the kids will have a ball with either cruise line. Rare Keith1010 Posted April 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Celebrity has a nice children's program. Go with Celebrity based on what you have said. Keith
kitty9 Posted April 22, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2013 When are you planning on sailing? That makes a difference because outside of school vacation times, Celebrity doesn't attract that many kids. Also know that the pools aren't the fancy ones you'll find on RCI or Carnival nor do they have the sports/physical activities that the other lines have. rebeccalouiseagain Posted April 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Celebrity does have kids. The youth program is fantastic (my son's favorite). The pools on Celebrity are good. There are two outdoor and a geyser type area on Silhouette. There are the typical outdoor sports court and basketball court. There is also mini-golf on Silhouette. Your kids will love Bistro on Five with made to order crepes, panini sandwiches, soups, salads and deserts. We went there every morning for a quiet breakfast with excellent service. So much better than the buffet with the lines and trying to find a table etc. My son loves Qsine, which is on Silhouette. It is $40 pp but is a really whimsical meal that will appeal to your sons.
