Alaska Flightseeing

This will be our first trip to Alaska. We are doing a cruisetour at the end of August and would love to do some sort of flight. What is your favorite flight tour, what was the cost and actual air time. Thank you in advance for your help. This is our ninth cruise and the most overwhelming in planning. So many options so much money.............

We did 2 flightseeing tours in Alaska last summer. One in Denali where we landed on the Ruth Glacier and the other in Ketchikan to Misty Fjords. Both were incredible in their own way. Landing on the glacier and getting out was definitely an experience being from the flat Midwest. Scene on the flight was great. I think we flew 45-50 in total. The flight to Misty Fjords was different in that we were flying over water more and not around glaciers. We did land in a small lake and were able to get out for a bit. Mountains and scenery were spectacular. Loved them both and would do them again. Yes, they are pricey. The glacier landing was the most expensive. Had thought going to Alaska would be a once in a life time trip so we went for it.

I have done at least 50 flights in Alaska. They ALL are scenic and show the vastness of Alaska. Rates need to be looked up with vendors specific to the flight. Few are under $200 so plan on "up" from there.

I suggest you take a look at what flights are available from where YOU are going to be? With the most "popular" by most cruise passengers- you are going to get a very short list, which will be glacier helicopter flights, Seward, Skagway, Juneau, Denali, Misty Fiords floatplane- out of Ketchikan. Bear watching tours- ANY interest?

McKinley- fixed wing or ski planes.

There are MANY MANY more. So you may also want to look past the replies you get, claiming their's were the "best". :)
