Best way to get to Brooklyn cruise terminal from Times Square Area?

We are staying in the Times Square area before our cruise and wondered if it is better to take a taxi or a car service to the Brooklyn cruise terminal?

Either will work. Personally, I'd book a car service so you know up front what your fare will be. You can try one of these:

I agree use a car service IMO. The Brooklyn cruise terminal averages less than one ship per week. Many cab drivers legitimately don't know where it is. Even with a car service its good to have the directions with you just in case.

from the west side:

 

go to the west side highway(west street-12th avenue) and go south(left) to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel(toll) take the Hamilton Avenue exit just past the toll booth. Make two left turns- be careful not to get back onto the tunnel. go straight ahead to Van brunt street make the left onto Van Brunt street and then the first right into the cruise terminal. There are signs that show this once you go though the Tunnel

 

from the East side take the FDR to the Brooklyn Bridge. once over the bridge stay to the left and go straight ahead. At atlantic avenue make a right go under the highway and make a left. Make the first right and follow that around- it becomes Van brunt street. Make the right at the second light into the cruise terminal... this does NOT follow the signs(on the Brooklyn Bridge) it goes a different way...
