der93711 Posted May 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2004 As the Jan 28, 2005 sailing on the Summit seems to be a no go, we have to look for alternatives. Has anyone ever sailed the Tahitian Princess? Does Princess have a board. I am disgusted with Celebrity and how they are handling this cancelation or whatever you call it. wv4891 Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Hi, yes Princess has a board on here. I am looking into taking the Tahitian Princess next July or August. Lot's of good information over on the Princess board on this ship and it's 2 Tahiti cruises. dabear Posted May 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 we cruise the TP last February and it truly was a fantastic cruise (if it is what you are looking for). The ship is small (formerly the Renassance R4) ans is about 3 years old. It has all the amenities, but they are scaled back since there are only 600 passengers. You will not find more beautifil islands and water anywear else on earth but the ship etc is quieter than most carribbean cruises. there are many posts on the princess board on cc. 1/05 Constellation 2004 Tahitian Princess 2002 zuiderdam 2001 millenium 1993 regent sea 1986 emerald sea 1981 sun viking 1971 jason 1969 carla c
Amagamma Posted May 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We sailed her when she was the R4. Out of 25 cruises, that has to be the best one. The ship is great. It's on the smaller side, but perfect for that itinerary. The islands are our favorite. Snorkeling the caribbean doesn't even come close. We're thinking of doing it again soon. Make sure you check out the black pearls.

Druke I Posted May 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We sailed the (new) Pacific Princess, an almost identical twin of the Tahitian Princess, this past November, Papeete to Sydney, and loved the ship. I've always preferred ships under 50,000 GRT or so, and Pacific Princess certainly fits that requirement. Michael
cathykins Posted May 11, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I am a Celebrity cruiser but have been doing research on the Tahitian Princess as well. I was telling my husband the other night that I have NEVER seen so many positive reveiws and repeat sailings as on that ship and itinerary! Enjoy, Cathykins
i-m-ed Posted May 11, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2004 If it weren't for the > $1200/person airfare, there are 7 to 10 of us cruising this year, I would be all over the Tahitian Princess cruise. Unfortunately the air kills it for us.
samben Posted May 11, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 11, 2004 WE sailed on her when it was the R4.....the best cruise ever!!! We've been on about 18. der93711 Posted May 11, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I-M-Ed: we have been told that if book the air through princess, it is about $780 plus taxes. laurieb Posted May 11, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 11, 2004 It's a great cruise! We are heading back for the second time this coming January. It is a beautiful ship and French Polynesia is spectacular. The food is not the same as on X, but the surroundings more than make up for it. For $780 I'd jump on that sailing. I'm going to call my TA one more time tomorrow just to double check the airfare.
dabear Posted May 11, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 11, 2004 you may want to check the air tahiti nui air lines site for specials, altho we did pay over $1000pp from LA last Feb. If you have AA miles they can be used. ps this airline was very good and flys almost new planes with alot of legroom in coach. to elaborate on my prior post, the scuba and snorkling were fabulous as was the whole trip. Conde nest mag rated the Tp one of the best. 1/05 Constellation 2004 Tahitian Princess 2002 zuiderdam 2001 millenium 1993 regent sea 1986 emerald sea 1981 sun viking 1971 jason 1969 carla c
NitaBcruising Posted May 11, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Did you check out the two reviews I bumped up for you on the Princess board? They are for the March 8th sailing this year. We've been twice, and have tentative plans for a CC reunion again in Sept. of '06! It is truly the most fabulous cruise, bar none! (p.s. I love Celebrity, too! But FP is gorgeous!) shay1 Posted May 12, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 12, 2004 We sailed the Tahitian Princess last May. It was the best cruise EVER! We had over 30+ cc members on this cruise and had a great time with all of them. The South Pacific is truly Paradise! We hope to go again but first I want to go to Hawaii we have never been there. kelmac Posted May 12, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Hi! My wife and I hope to do this cruise next summer (May/June). We would like to fly to Hawaii for 7-12 days, before flying to meet the Cruise. Anyone have any ideas about which airline would do an "open jaws" say from LA to Hawaii to Tahiti and back again to LA? Thanks! Kel link to Skagway weather

Nitrodog Posted May 29, 2004 #18 Share Posted May 29, 2004 TP was the best cruise we've been on. We went Feb. 04 and make no mistake about it, the islands are simply breathtaking. The ship is spectacular and you're going to have the time of your lives. Look up my review, I hope it helps. AstridSJ Posted May 30, 2004 #19 Share Posted May 30, 2004 I agree with all the others here, this was our best cruise ever. We sailed her when it was the R3 The South Pacific is the ultimate, with Bora Bora the most beautiful island I have ever seen. The ship is very elegant, I keep thinking of it as a small version of the Century. I would go again in a heart beat. seetosea Posted May 30, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 30, 2004 We also sailed on her when she was the R4. The snorkeling was the best we have EVER done. Of 12 cruises, this was by far our favorite. Snorkeling on every island was fantastic. We hoped to do Tahiti next April.
