amajaa Posted May 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2013 I'm sure this must have been discussed in full before but I have searched and can't find a thread on it. What's happened to the forum on the P & O website and is it every going to come back? On my first cruise I got so much information from that forum, the only problem was posts not showing up for quite a while after they were posted, which was most annoying. cardcrafter Posted May 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2013 I've been looking as well. Last time we sailed with Celebrity and the forums were full and very informative. I keep trying on P & O forums, but there don't:confused: seem to be a lot of people logging on.............
tartanexile81 Posted May 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2013 There was a lot of chat at the time when the community boards on the P&O website were closed in January. I was on Oceana at the time and had set up a group to keep in touch with everyone at home but it wasn't available after the 3rd day. The reason given at the time was that the boards were making the rest of their website unstable. The P&O website has always been 'temperamental' and very slow to say the least and even without the boards it doesn't seem a whole lot better. It certainly doesn't look like the boards are going to be in use again anytime soon. Although the website leaves a lot to be desired, like you I found the P&O boards really useful and better than the P&O threads and roll calls on this forum or any other site
Brayman Posted May 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2013 I always found the P&O Community Forum very difficult to use, especially having to plough through loads of posts until I found the last one I hadn't read, it's much easier on a proper forum like this where I just click on the "last unread" post icon in each thread. It had its uses in keeping in touch but that's about all.

amajaa Posted May 2, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) Couldn't you just click on the last page like you can on here then, I thought you could. The only problem I found was that the posts didn't always appear straight away so people used to answer the last post seen and then some would appear in between giving the same answer which looked like you had ignored them. Thanks for the link Edited May 2, 2013 by Lazysusan

Thanks for the link Yes but the last page didn't necessarily contain the last unread post.
davecttr Posted May 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2013 A lot of the P&O forum regulars have moved here.....http://www.cruise-community.me.uk/ Can't see the reason why they would want to set up their own forum when everyone could have just posted here. I have been using the 'new' forum but it has no chance of beating the P&O community forum for sheer numbers of posters. Actually i can't use the 'new' forum anymore since they migrated to a new provider last night. It won't except my password and the admin address is the pre migration address  don't mention that awful facebook, totally unstructured and they even had porn posted. Just an opportunity for lots of little cliques to form. i direct people here but it being 'american' seems to put people off.

I can't see why, if they click on P& O Cruises, I don't look at much else on here, and this section certainly isn't US biased.

annieuk Posted May 3, 2013 #13 Share Posted May 3, 2013 I find the new forum very easy to use, it's certainly superior to the old Community Forum - which I doubt will ever return - and most of the people who posted on the old forum are now members of the new. I know the owner changed the provider around 24 hours ago but I was able to log on with same password as normal - not sure why someone had a problem. Jay23 Posted May 3, 2013 #14 Share Posted May 3, 2013 I did not know about the new provider, I have logged on this week with no problem, in fact I didn't "log on" as I am permanently logged on. :) Jay

Dave, There is the usual "forgotten my password" feature, can you not use this to help you login? Alternatively your browser should have stored your login details, I use Firefox and I can access the details under "Options, security and saved passwords", from the dropdown Firefox box, I imagine other browsers have similar functionality. daiB Posted May 3, 2013 #19 Share Posted May 3, 2013 Mr John the joke loses something when it has to be explained. But here goes Dave is having problems getting on and no one will reply to him. I am suggesting that the problem is with Dave and not the website, which have no problem with at all. I was having a dig at Dave Cos that's what we do. Next time I will add an explanation of my posts for your good self. Here is a nice photo to cheer you up.

The problem with the forgotten password feature is it send the password to an email account that no longer exists so will just bounce back as undelivered. i had a serious email security problem and the only solution was to delete all my email addresses and open a new account. Waht i want is for the new forum to send the password to my new email address or the current contact details for the administrator.

Hi Dave, If you cannot raise David then you may have to rejoin the site with a slightly different name and you new email address. You can still operate untill your old one can be sorted out. Once in you PM David. Would you like a photo as well? Gan Canny Dai
