seannyice81 Posted May 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2013 After seeing some photos of Bottom Bay, I think I'm going to try to make a go of it. I was hoping anyone could help me with the following questions. How long does it take to get to/from. Are there any resorts nearby that would sell a day pass? Aplmac Posted May 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2013 . After seeing some photos of Bottom Bay, I think I'm going to try to make a go of it. I was hoping anyone could help me with the following questions. How long does it take to get to/from. ===> 45 mins.-ish? Are there any resorts nearby that would sell a day pass? ===> Crane? ..but not exactly "nearby" Bottom Bay is best enjoyed if you're staying on the island for awhileand have yourself a rented car thus providing your own transport to/from this somewhat remote place. IF your taxi driver knows where to find it, you'll need to have him wait for you because Bottom Bay is aways off the main road leading to it and you will not have taxis available for your return trip! ..you'll see! ;) There are very few amenities available at Bottom Bay nothing more than some of the local fellas selling necklaces and other 'trinket' stuff and a few chairs for rent (no umbrellas that I know of). No showers, no toilets, none of that civilized stuff, sorry. Might be an idea to visit this place for a short while --taking your best photos from the cliff-top-- and then have your driver take you to The Crane (about 2 zig-zag miles away?) -where I think you can pay a day-rate for a chair, etc. (other threads here have addressed that issue). . seannyice81 Posted May 12, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted May 12, 2013 Thank you very much for the information. I would love to check out Bottom Bay (even if only for a few mins), and then continue to The Crane. This begs the question though. Being in Barbados yourself, are there beaches or resorts similar to Bottom Bay that are closer in proximity to port?
Aplmac Posted May 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2013 I would love to check out Bottom Bay (even if only for a few mins), and then continue to The Crane. ===> I think you should. This begs the question though. Being in Barbados yourself, are there beaches or resorts similar to Bottom Bay that are closer in proximity to port? Similar? No.Many of the little cliff-surrounded coves along our South-East coast could be considered similar but the closer-to-the-Port variety on our South coast lack coconut palms even though they enjoy the same white sand bottom that yields exquisite turquoise water color! (-and the water's less rough/choppy for swimming: Bottom Bay may be scenic but you don't go there for the fabulous swimming conditions, OK?) ;) Bounganvillea Beach on the Maxwell Coast Road is a lot closer to the Port and is a well-run resort very popular with their repeat customers -you might try investigating that via internet to see if they will accept day-trippers? If you don't have Google Earth (free satell.-image viewing program) on your computer, you might give it a try! That way you can closely inspect all this terrain we're talking about, and get some idea ..ahead of your trip. I use it extensively, researching ahead of my cruises .
