Hi everyone,

Has anyone heard if Cunard has changed its policy on allowing own booze to be taken onboard? They used to be quite relaxed about amounts drink that could be taken onboard, but their small print now seems to indicate only 1 bottle wine or champagne per person. Anyone know the latest position?

Yes, they Have

But so far has not been enforced, (Perhaps they have amended their policy for those passengers making use of the new relaxed dress code)

Cunard FAQS states

Can I bring alcohol on board to consume in my cabin or in restaurants?

The safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests has always been our main concern at Cunard Line, and with this in mind we have reviewed our policies with regards to the consumption of alcohol on board our ships.

Guests are permitted to bring one bottle of wine OR champagne per person (over the age of 21) onboard, however all guests should be aware of the below policies -

We reserve the right to remove alcohol at the gangway should the need arise. It is not our intention to invoke this policy as a matter of course and we will only implement on occasions where we consider it likely that the health, comfort, safety and enjoyment of guests may otherwise be compromised.

If you are travelling on a fly cruise we recommend that all liquids are packed in your hold luggage to comply with airport and airline restrictions.

Should you wish to take wine or Champagne on board to consume in a restaurant, you will be subject to a US$20.00 corkage charge. This fee is subject to change.

You are able to purchase duty free tobacco and liquor on board, please click here for details

We have just returned from a TA.

Between the 4 of us we had 6x champagne. 2 x wine, gin, apple schnapps and various other bottles.

All carried on in hand luggage.

No checks or questions.

We had to pay the $20 corkage in Todd English. Various other locations did not charge. They did mention the charge but did not add it to the bill. (We tipped well)

Hmm.. This is weird. My recollection is that this was the policy until about a year ago. Then it changed to a no-restriction policy. Now it seems to have gone back. What was it all about? An experiment?

I think the small print has always been as you describe. Elsewhere in the FAQs section it used to state that there is no limit except that they reserved the right to remove alcohol at the gangway should the need arise. The revised FAQ still says that it's not their intention to remove alcohol as a matter of policy, but only when they "consider it likely that the health, comfort, safety and enjoyment of guests may otherwise be compromised"
