Hi Gordan Allset2go (Jim) will be joining this cruise. Look forward to meeting everyone. I will be arriving in Barcelona on November 8th. If anyone else is arriving early, I would like to meet prior to boarding the ship. I am a solo traveler.

Hi, Woody and Dick, Jim, and chongkwang - good to hear from you. Chong, you will enjoy this cruise a lot, probably the others you mention too, but I took this one last year and it was a ball.

We had a fairly active G/L roll call for that cruise, but there was a lot more family onboard than online. So we will be present and accounted for!

Hope everyone has a good week.

Hi Gordan,

Thanks for getting us set up on the Roll Call. I was wondering if you or someone else is working up various tours for this cruise. I know the toboggan ride in Funchal is really fun. The ship is offering a city tour that includes the toboggan run, but if anyone wants to just do the run and not the rest of the city tour, perhaps several of us could go by taxi. If you do not know about the toboggan run, two people are seated in a wicker basket type sled and with two porters on the back of the sled you go down a regular street with cars and pedestrians to the bottom of a long hill. The porters will want a tip at the bottom of the hill. Tks

Some people over on the other Roll Call have worked up tours or might do so - it's quite an active group, many of them have cruised together before. I've heard about the toboggan run, it sounds cool. Last year my friend and I explored the ports on our own but since I'm solo this time, I'd prefer to join something organized - the ship's tours would probably be fine, I haven't checked prices for them but last year's seemed very reasonable.

Waiting for a price drop on Choice Air - if it doesn't get cheap again, I may have to change my plans...

I seen some fares on choiceair from IAD-BCN for $442 one way, all taxes in. How low was it before?

Thanks, pilotboy. I've seen the fare DCA -> BCN & IAH or HOU -> DCA for anywhere between 750 and 990, all depends on when you look. Since I haven't made final payment yet - I have to move some time before the cruise so money is a consideration - I'm waiting to see how low an airfare I can get. I would hate to miss out on this, especially for such a good price, but it might still work out that way...and there will still be ships sailing across the Atlantic next year....I guess....

Well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it even though final payment is due in less than 10 days.

Hey there guys. Woody and I just always get off the ship and go exploring. You are all welcome to join us. Also when we did Rome to Galveston, All of the 'family' would meet at 6:30 in the Schooner bar for drinks before dinner. If you would like to do that we certainly can. I know of 5 other gay men going from here in Galveston. So we could have a nice group. If you want to check out the other groups website I will post it here. We traveled with many of them 2 years ago. Fun bunch of people.

Richard - That sounds like a great plan, thanks for mentioning it. On my previous cruise, getting together with other gay folk was pretty much catch as catch can, not very well organized ahead of time. Would really enjoy meeting all of you.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

And I also like the idea of going off and exploring on one's own - that's what my friend and I did last year, just grabbed a map on the pier and headed off into town. I'd be happy to join you and anyone else who wants to give it a go.

The people on the other board would want me to remind you to sign up for the Meet & Mingle on the RCI roll call page - last year we had a big crowd and one of us who was Diamond+ got the ship to give out a bunch of pretty cool swag, apparently a lot more than what's usually given out.

And finally.....I see that this page has been viewed over 1300 TIMES!!! :) and still we're only on page 2! Come on folks, like the Flintstones used to say, we'll have a gay old time.

Hey there guys.....I know of 6 other guys coming with us. I am not sure if they get on here or not. Why don't we plan on the 6:30 drinks in the Schooner lounge, and anyone that wants to join us can. We've done the toboggan ride and it was a blast. It is an easy walk from the boat to the cable cars, then an easy and nice walk to the ride. And of course it lets you off back town and everything is close by. I've never been to the other port, Cadiz, so we will get a map and go wondering around. And your room steward will put a map in your cabin the night before. So that makes it easy, or easier.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I've never been to either port so it's all gonna be big adventure for me - my first solo overseas trip. Looking forward to the whole thing, just hoping Choice Air will cut me a little break. It's been kind of a strange year for me, really looking forward to a big treat.

Hope you guys are having a great weekend - beautiful weather here in DC.

Thanks for the info. I have done the toboggan a couple of times and would like to do it again. Please add me to your gang.

Also is anyone putting a second seating main dining room table? If so and if there is room, I would like to join. Currently I am assigned 1st seating but that is too early for dinner for me. Would really like to join a fun table. Thanks Jim

Hi Jim - I saw your post on the other board. Just so you know, the singles table that Casino joan is organizing isn't necessarily all gay folk (though at least one of us is :D and as is I suspect I won't be the only one) but is just solo travelers together. I've been at tables like that before and they can be a lot of fun. If most of the folks there are straight, that's never bothered me. Hope you'll join us!

Thanks Gordon. I am very comfortable in a mixed environment, but am looking forward to a table of solo travelers. Jim

The meet-up at 6:30 in Schooners sounds great! FYI, last year they had a trivia contest in Schooners almost every night at around 7:00 or 7:30, who knows about this year, but let's meet and we can always make the rest of it up as we go along.

I think it will be a fun table, Jim - glad you'll be joining us.

Hi, JR & Randy - welcome! Looking forward to meeting you. You might want to check out the Roll Calll on the main RCI board - it's pretty active, looks like it's going to be a good group. And there's obviously more family on board than you might think from this thread.

Hope you're having a good week.

Hi again, everyone!

So....we've had about 45 or so posts on this thread....but over 1900 views!

I hope that means some of you non-posting visitors are coming along, too. This is a great cruise on a great ship, and after all, the more the merrier!

Hope to see you here or on board. (And maybe bumping us up to the top of the list will encourage you :))

Hello everyone! Anthony here and along with my partner Robert & my parents we will be on this TA cruise! I posted on the main Role Call Thread, but will Cut & Paste stuff here. We actually booked this cruise A LOONG time ago, but only got around now to posting on the Role Call thread.

We are seasoned cruisers with about 36 cruises under our belt. We LOVE, LOVE TA's and do at least one a year, many times we'll do both the Spring & Fall TA's in the same year. We're Diamond on RC so looking forward to the nightly cocktail hours.

We're both in our early 50's and have had the good fortune to be able to retire early. We're originally native NY'ers, but have been living in Philadelphia for the past 7 years. Our last cruise was on the Celebrity Millie this past March for the SE Asia Cruise; Vietnam was incredible!

I haven't had time to read through all the postings (We're going to South Africa next week) but we have signed up for the Meet & Greet. We've been to the port stops MANY, MANY times so we're familiar with what's to see.

Can't wait to meet everyone and share stories!

I am SO looking forward to this trip. It appears Woody and I will be moving from our large 1886 home here in Galveston to another home, smaller, a few days before the trip. We head to Barcelona on Nov 4th and will be staying at the Axel hotel there. Other friends are joining us there on Thursday. I will be ready for this somewhat relaxing time!!! Did anyone else buy or see the all you can drink booze/soda package. It is $55 a day pp and you can drink most anything on the ship. Even there drinks of the day. It's a good deal if you partake in adult beverages. Our room is 7678. Knock on the door anytime. ;)

Welcome to you guys. Houston huh, we may know each other! I bartend at 3rd Coast Downtown. If you are ever in Galveston on a Friday or Sunday afternoon stop by and say Hello! Also if you haven't seen on here yet, we are planning on meeting each evening at the Schooner bar at 6:30, if you would like to join us.

Also there is a wonderful group of folks traveling together, we were with them 2 years ago, that put together tours, events on board and just enjoy each other. They even have a website you can join.

http://navigator2013ta.com/Home_Page.php

They are planning a meet and greet for lunch in the Clear Lake area for Oct 19th and one in Arlington Sept 21st.

Looking forward to meeting all of you as well!!!

Richard and Woody
