Apparently, he's a TV chef with some restaurants. Still never heard of him since I'm not a big cooking show fan. I have heard of guys like Emirel, Flay and Mario since I go to Vegas for conferences quite a bit. But, never heard of this guy. That said, I did book the 3 restaurant special on Breakaway. I was thinking about Ocean Blue. I thought $35 was on the high end of what I might spend, but was still considering it. Just looked at MYNCL and the price did indeed go up to $48/pp. Nope....not doing that. Will see in a couple of weeks whehter they have a crowd at the restaurant. If this guy is leasing space on the Breakaway, then NCL would indeed have influence over pricing. In fact our local little diner gets their fish delivered daily from south street. I wonder what will happen on the 12 day cruises in January?it. More often then not the fish you buy was caught more then 6 or 7 days ago with rare exceptions. Commercial fishermen go out and most don't come back until your fish packed in ice fills the boat. Aladdin1968 Posted May 20, 2013 #103 Share Posted May 20, 2013 Maybe a bit off topic, but although the menu seems very appealing, we found the restaurant a bit small and in fact not very intimate, because it is more or less a part of an atrium with strolling people taking a peek inside or literally taking a walk inside. We did not eat there, though, we took the Raw Bar, that is the barrier between restaurant and atrium, but we will go there next time. Even for 50 bucks. And it is funny to read that some people call it Ocean Blue and others Ocean Blu. Also the NCL web sites use both names. Same for Morton's or some of the other fine dining.I'll withhold judgement on the price of Ocean Blue until I try it. Around here a family restaurant for two is about $50, so $100 for fine dining is a bargain. You are mistaken - the poster you were replying to was talking about the $75 for the meal on RCCL, but come to find out - it came with pairings and at that point, it became palatable to that person. Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying your viewpoint is wrong. It is one of many. O'Sheehans late night menu has gone to crap and while it's a free restaurant... who wants Chicken Pot Pie after being in the disco all night? The food options there are silly. Five things you can order and the chicken tenders are gone. I don't get the logic in this change either for NCL. I just hope it's not changed in the Blue Lagoons fleet wide. I was at Ruths Chris a couple of weeks ago with three people and in the end it was just south of $300.00. I won't be back too soon, but it doesn't mean that the filet wasn't worth it. And the food is overpriced 25%. So we never return. Nothing worse than spending $150 on dinner and walking away hungry ;) But I bet we try Ocean Blue anyway. We really splurge on vacation and eat at specialty restaurants most nights. However, being in the late night crowd and knowing what people order at the hour - including a good 6 people who were looking for it on the first night I went - I think it was just a cutback again. :( One lady raised a valid point and I put that in my review of Breakaway... to make a Chicken Pot Pie is a lot more work then dropping chicken tenders and fries into a fryolater. There's more prep involved in the pot pie unless they're getting it out of some sort of drum. :eek: I was going to start a Cruise Critic campaign to bring back the chicken tenders but I hope this is only a change to O'Sheehans on Breakaway and not fleetwide at the Blue Lagoons. I thought they may have made them somewhat fresh given the amount of time, especially on the last night of the sailing, it took for the pie to be delivered. I did do a Dear Denis letter about the change and one night when I got in there they did have two orders of them available and I nabbed both! The orders are much smaller too for the daytime. I don't know if it's maybe a goal to make O'Sheehans more upscale? Last I recalled from my tour in the UK prior a pub didn't serve chicken pot pie! lol :D Oh well... mozarella sticks are gone from the late night menu too but I can't remember if they were ever available.
