Just booked a getaway this morning - happy with what I have paid and now I have to stop following the prices!!

 

Anyway - just wondered about currency - the non Euro stops (Copenhagen, Stockholm, couple of other Swedish stops and St Petersburg) - does anyone know if you need to get local currency to buy coffee, lunch, postcards etc or will they accept euros or sterling ?

Far easier to use local currency in Denmark and Sweden, some outlets may take Euros, but the exchange rate won't be in your favour.

Official places like state museums, especially in St Petersburg, will probably only take the official currency. I suspect street traders in St Petersburg will give better rates for foreign cash, but it's quite a few years since I was there.

I anticipate paying for anything bigger by card and it just seems a pain to get small change - but I suppose I'll just get some on the ship
