Taste of Florence by Coach & Bullet Train

WE have booked through the cruise line the Taste of Florence by Coach & Bullet Train day tour while in Ravenna, Italy on our Celebrity cruise. Does anyone have an opinion on this tour, as we only have 3.5 hours in Florence. The train would be interesting for me as well as I believe it travels through Tuscany. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated on this tour, as it was expensive and I am hoping it would be worth it.

Honestly, while Florence is one of the great cities in Italy with some of the finest art in their museums, 3 1/2 hours won't even touch the surface.....IMHO, Florence requires a minimum of two days just to see the museums with all of the original paintings and sculptures that we all learned about in college. If you aren't going to see the art, then it's not worth the trip at all...there are far more picturesque cities in Italy.

It sounds like a very expensive trip, but you could visit Pisa and Lucca for far less cost and have a far more enjoyable day.

whoops....tells you how much I know about geography....my bad.

I still wouldn't do the Florence trip. Just tour ravenna, bologna, do the wine tour...there's lots to see. Visit Florence when you have time to really see it.

I agree with ghstudio. I spent 4 days in Florence last year and it still wasn't enough for me. We spent a day in Ravenna last year and really enjoyed going to all the churches with the fabulous murals and seeing a fine mosaic floor that had been restored at another church.

I would enjoy your day in Ravenna and save Florence, Sienna etc for when you can spend at least 3 to 4 days in that area.

I agree. We wer ein Ravenna last year and went to the Ferrari Museum in the afternoon and looked at the mosaics in Ravenna itself in the afternoon. We wished we had had more time in Ravenna, and we didn;t ge tto Bologna at all!

There's far too much to see and do in Ravenna and the surrounding area to warrant a flying a visit to Florence, methinks!
