Ok, so unlike my original thoughts, i just noticed that unused OBC gets LOST!! I guess i made the mistake of paying for my cruise too soon, since an later price drops have resulted in OBC. It is just my wife and I cruising on the Pride in June (GT, HMC we already have a cabana, Freeport), and we now have $710 of OBC!!!! Two questions, first am I right about not getting it back? and secondly, What should I spend all that OBC on?!?

Its refundable if its more than $5, they will give you a check. I personally would go to the pursers desk the last night and ask for it in cash. (only had enough I did this once, usually I have no trouble spending the OBC).

Price drops OBC is refundable (despite what the small print says)

I have a bunch of nonrefundable OBC coming. I plan on buying me a nice citizens eco drive watch (runs off the sun and light).

I wait and buy my carnival tours until Im onboard if I have a lot of OBC.

tips will use up a lot of mine. I like glitter tee shirts. I often buy a bottle of booze to bring home. Lately I have been buying cigarettes for my neighbor to bring home.

$710 would be easy to spend.

for some, but we are budget cruisers, and our vacation was made as cheap as possible, we like to drink, but i think my wife would die if we spent it all on booze

Well you already budgeted that $710 into your cruise, so spend it. I don't go hog wild either, but $710 on a S&S account is really not that much.

So your original price was around $2100? That does not sound like a budget cruise to me. Anyhow, you will get unspent OBC refunded to you. Enjoy your cruise.

Hahaha trust me, if my wife did not win $1000 on a 25 cent slot machine, on her second spin, we would not be cruising this year, lol

We are using our OBC for our upcoming cruise to pay for gratuities and also for a spa week pass (which we were planning on getting anyway).

As Fire said, it should be refundable. It has been in the past. Check your account onboard and it should show whether your OBC is refundable or nonrefundable. If you want to get it in cash, you can go to the casino and transfer some to your player's account through a slot machine. Play a pull or two and then go to the cashier and tell them you want to cash out your player's account. :D

I'm planning to do that myself. I have more than 3x what you have for just the two of us. Like you, I'd have trouble spending the $710 let alone the more than $2K. I drink very little, don't play in the casino, and don't do excursions through the cruise line. We'll use it toward gratuities (it's a 12-night cruise) and we have reservations for three nights in the steakhouse. Other than that, we'll cash out most of what's left. :D

I would probably buy a pretty keepsake piece of jewelry with that much OBC. I don't drink much and my bills are always relatively low. I've always been tempted to try the spas, but I don't want to spend that much money, but it would be a nice treat if I had lots of OBC. Hopefully, you'll be able to treat yourselves to something nice this time around.

Like already said.. There is always a way to get $$ back. If all the common ways fail..Head to Casino like said above and open a players card and deposit OBC to there and cash out. Never feel the need to spend it all. We cash ours out and use it for deposit for next cruise ...:D

Isn't there a limit on the casino cash out before you have to pay taxes? Saw this on our last cruise. Gentleman walked up to cashier ahead of us and said he wanted to cash out. He had over $2000. The cashier called another person up and they told him it was in his best interest to only cash out on no more then $500 at a time unless he wanted to pay taxes on it. Just some thing to think about.

book your next cruise while on board the one with the obc, then you will also get the effect of what used to be the FCC's so that's another bonus. :D

I'm going with this. :) Then half that money you're wife won on the 2nd spin of slots is already paid for the next one.

Whenever I am lucky enough to have obc I use it like play money. expensive perfume that I like, extras I wouldn't usually buy. You can cash it out at the service desk my friend does that.

As fun as that sounds, I definitely won't be treating it as play money. :D It's my money that I paid to Carnival and is now coming back to me--it's not free money; I worked hard for it! I expect to have about $1500 left after paying gratuities and eating in the steakhouse a few times. That'll be extremely helpful on the rest of our vacation. :D
