jackiedan Posted April 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2004 Hi all, I am leaving for my cruise in almost a month and am attmepting to lose 5 or 10 pounds. I am by far one of the laziest people ever and gyms just are not my thing, so i decided to get one of those exercise balls (stability ball, whatever you want to call them). That thing is amazing. It comes with a little wall chart of exercises to do plus i got some online. It gives you a killer ab workout along with helping you stretch and tone muscles without using weights. I am in love. I actually look forward to using it everyday. Just within the past week or so i can tell my clothes fit better and i lost 2 pounds. I go on walks with my dogs, cut some carbs and am drinking tons of water. It seems to be making a big difference so far. Just thought i would pass along the word if there was anyone else out there looking for a great way to get in shape without going to the gym. ski ninja Posted April 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2004 I agreee the stability ball is great!! It is even good to use at the gym. I do bench press, shoulder press, back extension, push ups as well as abs at the gym with the free weights they have there. I've even been known to sit on it while watching tv(great for abs). Subing the stabilithy ball for stationary furnature at the gym helps build the core.
WeirdEyes Posted April 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I have been using my gym ball (stability) for about two years. I have a bad back and using the ball is the only way I can get a good workout with weights. I think everybody should at least try it once. ~~Shelia~~
Sailing the Mariner in....... Carnival Destiny 2002
cruzingduo Posted April 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Hi, can some one provide a web site that illustrates exercises you can do using the ball? I have a bad back too and really need a way to tone my abs. They looks like a bowl of jello. Thanks for the help. Joanne
mafig Posted April 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I've seen them on TV exercise shows and they look great. Where do you buy them? How much $$ ?
WeirdEyes Posted April 21, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I got my ball from physical therapy so insurance paid for it. It was part of my therapy. You can buy them anywhere that sells sporting goods. Wal-Mart has them for sure and I think they are under $20.
