carps09 Posted May 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2013 I am new to cruising - never been - and my husband really wants to go. We've been looking at Royal Caribbean, but some friends told us there was nothing to do at night on an RC ship. We're not interested in the Carnival spring break-type party scene, but we don't want to go to bed at 9pm every night either. Should we be concerned about the nightlife on Royal Caribbean? What is there to do at night? Thanks! :)
renee1222 Posted May 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2013 I've been on 2 RC cruises (Freedom & Jewel) and there was plenty to do at night! On both we had late dining at 8:30pm so we usually saw a show in the theater at 7pm before dinner. Several evenings there were late night events such as the Love & Marriage Show, an adult comedy show or the Quest (which you just have to experience for yourself!) that began between 10 and 11pm. We usually went to bed around midnight, whereas we usually go to bed around 10pm at home....I don't know if that is considered a boring night-life to you, but we stayed busy and were exhausted by bedtime! Although we did not stay up for it, there was also a night-club with a DJ that partied until 2am usually. There is also Karaoke that can take place late at night. One night there was a late-night deck party, but I don't remember the exact time of that one. I hope this helps! Maybe your friend has Royal Caribbean confused with Holland America......:D FYI - We are in our 30s and enjoy entertainment, but not the wild, partying spring break scene as you mentioned. Navigat8 Posted May 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2013 There's loads to do at night. Shows, bars, disco, casino, pool parties, entertainers. There are parades on the bigger ships:D I've never been bored and have sailed on Oasis, Freedom, Independence, Navigator and Jewel. Myself and my DH are in our fifties and have sailed with my parents (80+) and daughter and son in law (23 and 28). None of us have been bored at any time:D Gill
epcopres Posted May 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2013 I just got off the Freedom 2 weeks ago and the DJ was playing in the Crypt night club til 2am or later every night. The casino was open late, late night comedy shows etc....

couple_cruisers Posted May 28, 2013 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Me and my husband are 25 and were never bored at night. Shows started between 830- 1030 The "adult" shows (love & marriage, quest, battle of sexes) started 1130 or 1145 and the club was open every night around 11 or 1130 till ??? We never closed the place lol so definitely can be fun for a young couple
wmp.dll Posted May 28, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Lots of stuff to do at night! If you get a chance, I suggest you check out "silent disco" if it is available in the night club on your sailing. We did it on Freedom in "the crypt" and it was a ton of fun I thought. I'm not certain what kind of fun your friends are looking for, but.... I have sailed on several Royal Caribbean ships and there are PLENTY of things to do at night! I sailed on Oasis last year and the entertainment on board that ship is absolutely ENDLESS. There are many nightclubs, comedy clubs, karaoke, live stage shows, theme parties, lounges, water/diving shows, ice skating, you name it. You can literally stay awake and active all night, if you desire. We had a ball! We just got off the Enchantment, which is quite a bit smaller (and a shorter itinerary) but every bit as much fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the parties on the pool deck each night. There's more than enough nightlife on any RCI ship. Find the ship that sounds most interesting to you, and book a cruise. You'll have a good time! ;)
carps09 Posted May 28, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted May 28, 2013 I was confused by their comments, too...just needed some reassurance. I mean I don't plan on watching the sun come up every morning or anything, but it sounds like there is certainly plenty to do! Thanks, everyone :)
Rare pasodancer Posted May 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Agree w/ all posts above! We are dancers and we go from venue to venue to venue w/ stops at bars in between………we are lucky if we get back to our room before 3 a.m. We meet a lot of new friends and have fabulous memories each day /night based on our interaction w/ others. :)
oneputt18 Posted May 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted May 28, 2013 Try Allure or Oasis, Dazzles will keep you dancing in into the wee hours. Good mix of new and oldies dance music.
LuvWilliam Posted May 29, 2013 #14 Share Posted May 29, 2013 My husband and I don't enjoy beer bongs and pong tournaments but we like to party. (Not spring break style!) We live RCIs night life. Our nights don't end until 3AM every night and include a short dinner, the nightly show, Schooner bar, then night club until it closes. We were married in St Thomas on the Liberty and two nights before our wedding we were out until 7AM with all of our family. Good fun to be had, nothing crazy just fun times! OCruisers Posted May 29, 2013 #18 Share Posted May 29, 2013 I've heard people complain about a variety on things on RCCL. Not having enough to do at night has never been one of the complaints. LuLu ~~~~
