Star Princess or HAL Westerdam

Looking at a western Carribean cruise itinerary next spring and trying to decide between one of these two ships. Any comparisons?

IMHO the Westerdam's itinerary is far superior to the Star's for some new ports... at least for me.. HAL is a bit "staid" for me although I will probably do this itin at some point.. but Princess remains favorite cruise line.

I have been on Star Princess and Zuiderdam ( a sister ship of Westerdam). We were happy with both but prefered the lighter decor on Star Princess. HAL has the better buffets in our view but the Princess dinner menu in the dining room was better than HAL. Just a personal view. I would happily go on either and make my choice based solely on the ports of call.

Looks like the itineraries are exactly the same.

 

Here's my take. HAL will be a little more low-key, may have a little better food and service, but that is subjective, and HALs cabins are a little bigger apples to apples. Princess has more activities, and better entertainment.

 

In my opinion you can't go wrong either way, but if you like to be pretty active, you may want to opt for Princess.
