Sapphire Princess Alaska

The drive is one of the most scenic in the state. There is only one rental car company in Whittier (Avis) and the drop fees are high. Usually worth it for the flexibility you get while driving along the arm to stop where you want. Unfortunately it appears you may be arriving the same day as your cruise so you won’t have a lot of time to explore. It also may take more than one car with your larger group and luggage. There are transportation options here: http://www.anchorage.net/bus-van-motorcoach-rentals

Here is a photo of the bore tide along Turnagain Arm from last week where you will be traveling from Anchorage to Whittier. We too will be on the Sapphire, departing on June 8.

The highway and the train both travel along Turnagain Arm although it doesn't look like the train will be an option in your timeframe.
