Carnival Splendor Cruise Review with Photos!

Recommended Posts

We sail from New York on October 16th, super excited!!!! :D You'll love the Canada cruise, we did a 5 day one on the Victory in 2008, very foggy at sea but an awesome cruise!!!!

Oh, awesome, I know that area really well. Our family cottage is 30 minutes north of Ottawa in Alcove, Quebec!! :D

Awesome, definatly a beach person!!!! :D Shopping is always good as well. And they have a Margaritaville right close by, is that right? It's always fun going there!!!! :D

Yep, Margaritaville is right there within the shopping area!

We'll be on the October 16th Splendor cruise as well! See you on board!!!

Wonderful wonderful review....fell in love with NYC as i won tickets to see a favorite singer there middle of May and so much to get there made it a week...Problem is..I spent 2 (special CC informed and planned as we do)... solo inside cruises to go. But I met Enrique Iglesias and got a hug and a kiss and some dear fan friends from your neck of the woods..worth it??? Yes..dying for a cruise now..yes..I am really practiced for a better cabin and a great time on Norweigan, Carnival and Princess..probably in that order for next times..unless i meet dear friends form here on a new big RCCL one..ahh so much travel so little time...you two are and absolutely beautiful couple...thanks so much for sharing and getting me in the cruise mood...Sarah

Entertainment: C-

This is where the Carnival Splendor lacks in my humble opinion. The comedy shows were great and we really enjoyed them but for us, it was all downhill from there. We tried watching VROOOM and left about 5 minutes into the show. It was that bad. Also, Carnival doesn’t seem to have as much live music as Norwegian does. We could definitely see the cutbacks in this department.

(took a piece of the review, didnt feel like quoting)

I actually didnt mind Vroom. it was one of the better live production shows. we were on the same cruise!

Up next for us is a 7 day cruise to Bermuda in the fall aboard the brand new Norwegian Breakaway, followed next spring by a 9 day Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Gem and then another adventure on the Carnival Splendor in 2014. (This time we booked a premium balcony cabin) What can I say; we are 100% cruise addicts!

Until then, safe travels everyone! :)

Thanks for the great review! Enjoy your upcoming cruises, and Lets Go Mets! :p

I can see how a kiss and a hug from Enrique Iglesias can get to your head like that :D :D I hope you get to go on your cruise anyway!

Thank you! We will definitely try to catch a Yankees game next time we're in NYC! :)

Just finished reading your Gem review. Holy Moly! We happen to live in NE NJ, just 20 minutes from cruise terminal and got the brunt of the hurricane. We were without power for almost 9 days. My parents, brother and other relatives live at the Jersey shore and they are STILL digging out. :(:(:( Our lst cruise was on the Celebrity Horizon to Bermuda and we had to leave a day early to "skirt around" Hurricane Gloria, then we did the same with Hurricane Floyd. We had rough seas, but I cannot IMAGINE how it was being on the ship for you. Fortunately both DH and I don't get sea sick, but who knows in seas like that. I congrat you on giving the tips voluntarily. I wonder how many pax did not realize that they were not going to be charged for the extra days and might have done the same. Almost a shame that GEM didn't make a mention of this fact so that they could have done this. Sounds like an awesome crew. We are not partial to NCL but even I looked up cruises on her after reading your review! Thanks for sharing this with us and hope you are enjoying the last season with Mo in the 9th. NYY baseball is never gonna be the same. :(

We were on Miracle 4x and did the Splendor 5/4. I have to say I am totally spoiled with Miracle. Just love her and we always get the same cabin, so it is like "going home" when I walk on the ship. So I was very, "well, Miracle has this here and that there" type of thing the lst day. We also discovered the brand new Serenity area on Miracle when we sailed in Feb. and tho we usually like to hang out "with the crowds and action" in the main pool, this was so nice and relaxing. We went to Nassau which we had been to so many times, so just hung out in Serenity that day. I was disappointed with Splendor's Serenity area because it is basically just some fancy lounge chairs. Again,we are not "Serenity regulars" but it was a difference I noticed. The layout, of course, on Spirit class ships is THE BEST. So on Splendor it took a bit getting used to. We were deck 8 aft (which we always book) so just a staircase away from Lido, but the MDR ....but you figure it out the lst day and then just follow the herd! :p Remember that deck 5 goes full ship. I missed the chix fingers at the grill on Splendor and to me, the atrium seemed much smaller than the Miracle. We usually hang out at the casino/casino bar after dinner and I enjoyed the Splendor more for that because they have a singer or a band there every night. We do not do shows, so can't compare. So even tho I got on Splendor "homesick" for the Miracle, I came to love the Splendor! Oh, and the pink donuts...kind of like the purple grapes in the Miracle MDR. I noticed them more because everyone talked about them, but after a while they just blended into the background. It was kind of a weird decorating idea tho! One thing, we LOVED the crew on the Splendor. Every single crew member we encountered was friendly and helpful. You will have a great time! YankeeFan4ever, sorry to highjack your thread!

The Splendor is a great ship but if I had to choose between the two, I would choose the Miracle.

It was definitely a wild ride, but we had a blast!

I still can't believe we'll never see Mo play again after this season...:(

You and my DB could be twins seperated at birth. He LOVES NYY and DETESTS the BoSox. I just forwarded him a copy and paste of your opinions when you had to visit Beantown. :D:cool:

Mo is such an amazing player AND such an amazing MAN. My favorite all time player is Thurman. I will never forget when I heard his plane went down...so he could go home and spend his day off WITH HIS FAMILY.

Thanks again for a great review and hope you and your beautiful wife have many more cruises to look forward to. Congrats on your son.

bf731, we cruise exclusively from NY because we are 20 minutes doorstep to cruise terminal. We also sail exclusively with CCL because we love her ships plus with not having to travel to a ship plus all the "perks" and discounts we get on CCL, it is the one way we are ABLE to cruise. But that does limit us as far as ships and itineraries. But it's a CRUISE, so it's all good! ;);) If Splendor and Miracle were both in Manhattan I would pick the Miracle. But you won't have to twist my arm to get on the Splendor again next February!

Thanks so much for your review. I'm trying to convince myself to try the Thanksgiving (Canadian) sailing on the Splendor this year. We've always sailed out of Florida but it would be so nice to just drive to the port and save the airfare. Your photos of sailing out of the New York port almost have me convinced.
