traveller 100 Posted June 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2013 We are doing a Fairbanks/Denali/McKinley/Kenai pre cruise land tour with Princess and are getting mixed responses as to luggage. What are you allowed to carry on the train? Last trip we were allowed the typical airline carry on, it appears they may not now be allowed. How many bags are you allowed to have transported from lodge to lodge. We know we can have a bag sent directly to the ship but is this mandatory? If anyone has recently completed this tour what were you allowed. Thanks
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 9, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2013 I would either post this on the Princess Cruise Line Board or the Alaska Ports of Call Board. Keith
JBM Posted June 9, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2013 We just returned from the Sapphire Princess cruise / land tour. We had 4 bags with us. We were given 4 tags....2 for our final destination and 2 to go place to place with us. You will be given tags each day. Bags are to be left outside your hotel room at a certain time and will arrive in your room at your next destination. Your final destination bags will be outside your cabin. I would think you can ask for extra tags if need be. Princess has this very well organized, in my opinion. Tip.....if you are going on a tour early on the day that you leave your hotel, and have bulky carry on bags, check them in the hotel lobby. No charge, other than a well deserved tip, since you didn't have to cart them around. Another option, some buses have overhead storage and they all have under bus storage. caa Posted June 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2013 There's no overhead and very little under seat storage on the train, so you cannot take an airline overhead sized roll-aboard on the train with you and keep it at your seat during the journey. You can take a tote bag, purse, camera bag, small backpack, etc. You'll keep these things on the seat next to you or under your own feet. Your roll-aboard or larger luggage (one piece per person) will be picked up at your hotel room before you get on the train, and it will appear at your next hotel room after you get off the train.
